It's four days later and we are finally leaving the hospital. In the space of me being in here, I had the DNA tests so now I have them tightly in my hand. Bhut'Simphiwe came to fetch us but he has to go to work so he will drop us off at home. "Bhuti can we please pass by Mugg n Bean." I focus on Melo who is fast asleep. I can't believe I made a whole human being. "Sure." He doesn't speak much during the ride home.

"Will you two be okay here?" I nod my head and focus on taking Melo out of her car seat so she can sleep in her bassinet. "We'll be okay Bhuti, go to work." He kisses my forehead as well as Melo's before walking out. I settle into bed and breath through my nose as I feel the stitches pulling from my cesarian. I open my laptop and play some cartoons to watch so I can fall asleep.

I manage to grab a two hour nap before waking up to feed and change Melokuhle. Once she is fed and burped, I place her in the middle of the bed and begin undressing. I need to take a shower since I can't take baths. I make sure to enjoy my shower because it loosens up the knots in my neck and the water feels amazing going down my back.

I change into cotton shorts and a large black t-shirt. I get back in bed with Melo and eat the food Bhuti bought for me. As I'm eating, my phone rings on the far side of the bed. I reach over Melo and answer it. "Hello?" The person on the other side doesn't speak. "he-hello? Is anyone there?" I feel stupid as I ask this but it's never hurt to try.

"Are you enjoying motherhood?" I know that voice. "What the fuck do you want Sabelo? I see you've been let out of prison." He laughs wholeheartedly. "Yandisokuhle why must you be so bitter? I though motherhood brings out the best in people. It turns out, it's bringing out the worst in you dear." I end the call and throw the phone to my side. "What the fuck?" I am stunned. You try to run from your past, or move on from it only for it to catch up to you.

My phone rings again and I let it ring, I can't be bothered to feel negativity when I should be enforcing positive energy for my baby and I. My phone rings again and I turn it off, silencing it because Melokuhle begins stirring. "Shhh." I bring her up to my boob and she latches on immediately. I feel something like cramps in my lower stomach and the doctor said that that's my womb shrinking.

As she falls back asleep, my phone rings again and I answer it feeling pissed now. "If you don't leave me the fuck alone I swear I will haunt you down and kill you, making sure to hide your body so that no one finds it. DO. YOU.UNDERSTAND?" They are silent on the other end and I prepare to end the call. "Nxa!" I remove the phone from my ear, "Yandi wait!" I bring it back to my ear again. "Who is this?" The person breaths out loud. "It's Nelisiwe." My mouth forms an 'o'. "What can I do for you Nelisiwe?"

"I'm at the door, I've brought gifts for the baby!" She all but screams. "What?" I open the security website on the laptop and lo and behold, Nelisiwe standing on the porch with gifts galore. "I'm coming, stay there." I wear my slippers and go downstairs. As soon as I open the door, I am attacked into a hug. "What's this now?" She laughs before going into a full blown cry. "I missed you so much and I am so so sorry! Please don't leave me againnnnnn." She sobs into my chest.

"Nelisiwe get up. I have a new born and crying makes me lactate." I was too late, the milk began coming out. She wiped her tears off her face and fetched the gifts hat she had. "What are these for?" She smiles widely, "these are gifts for the little one. Where is he or she?" I close the door behind her and lead her to the living room.

"She is asleep."

"It's a she?" There are glasses forming in her eyes. "Yep. Melokuhle." She looks like she's holding a squeal in. "May I please see her?" I shake my head no. "Sorry, she's too young to be seen by people." She nods in understanding. "Well I got her these." She hands me the gifts and I smile, feeling a few tears slip out of my eyes. "Thank you so much. I'm sure she'll love them." She smiles and sits back.

"So...how's school?" I ask her, feeling awkward. "Hectic. Mr. Smith has us doing tests almost everyday and Hergelat is so much worser than last year." I laugh. "I can imagine." I nod my head. "So how are you handling it all?" she shrugs. "I'm taking it day by day and Jason's here to help me where I fall short." I see a smile on her face. "OOOOOOOO tell me about Jashon!"

She blushes and looks away. "There's nothing to tell." I raise my eyebrow in question. "I'm serious. We're just friends ey!" I nod but don't agree with what she's saying. "Well, whatever you do. Make sure to condomize, always." She blushes and looks away. "WE haven't even gotten there yet." I smile, "Well, whenever you get there then."

We sit and speak for a long time before she has to leave. I go back upstairs to feed my baby and also change into sweats as the temperature drops. I feed Melokuhle and burp her but she brings up some spit. The doorbell rings as I'm placing her in her bassinet. "I'm coming." I shout out when I hear the persistent ringing of the doorbell.  "Yes?" It's Ntando. "Come in." He takes a step back. "I won't be staying for long."

He takes a deep breath. "Look Yandi, I will always love you and I need you to know that. I...I can't stay with you or Melokuhle." I am stunned because I don't remember telling him her names. He wasn't added into the birth certificate as he doesn't acknowledge her as his child. "I had the DNA test results emailed to me first before they were sent to you. I will pay my damages but I can't stay and raise Melokuhle as my own or with you. I acknowledge that she is my child but I want nothing to do with either one of you. I am going to start my own family and I don't need any outsiders to impose. I hope you can understand and let me go. Goodbye Yandisokuhle."

And after his speech, he walked down to the driveway, got in his car, and drove off.

The End.
