Match day》》》

Jason

It's the opening game for the season and we've been preparing for the whole term. Thia is our last year, we only have one last Eason so we have to make it count. Theres a lot of pressure from everyone and the fact that there will be people from high sports organisation's who will be coming to watch us is the cherry on top.

"Good morning Jay." I cast my eyes away from the ceiling, focusing on my baby sister's figure at the door. "Morning Jayla." She's only five years old and she's the reason why I haven't left home.

"Mommy asked if you could make breakie for me." She smiles at the end, showing the gaps between her teeth from all the cavities she's had. I get up from my bed, sit on the edge and motion for her to come closer. When she stands infront of me, I pick her up and place her on my lap, giving her a kiss on the forehead to which she responds by giggling.

"Let's go then." I stand up with her in my arms. It's nothing new to make breakfast for her, I've gotten used to taking care of my siblings by myself, even with the presence of our parents.

When we get downstairs, I place her in her chair and wrap her light fleece on her, I grab her plate and cup, rinse them and a few berries which I proceed to rise as well. I hand her the plate, "Thank you Jay-jay" she smiles at me again.

I smile back at her and make a quick breakfast of toast, eggs and cherry tomatoes. I make us each a cup of hot chocolate and we have our breakfast in quiet. "G'morning," Samather walks into the kitchen, rubbing her eyes.

"Morning Sammy" Jayla beams at her. I kiss her forehead when she puts her body weight on my body, balancing on me.  "How'd you sleep?" She grips the granite table, pulls herself off and sits on the barstool besides mine. "I had another nightmare but its all cool." She purses her lips and shrugs  buy a can see the hurt and fear in her eyes.

I hold her small hand in my larger one and notice the identical marks we've received for being defiant. I stand and hand her her plate of food and accompany it with a warm glass of hot chocolate.  We finish our food and I stay behind to wash the dishes.

"Good morning Jason." I murmur a good morning back, barely glancing at the woman I call my mother. I wipe the dishes and walk out. "Jason-" I turn to face her, "I promise I'll make it to your game."

"That's what you said last time. But you didn't.  So don't bother this time." I walk out, leaving her crying in the kitchen. It used to hurt me down to my core when she didn't show up to my games because she was 'sick'. Now, I don't care anymore, not since I walked in on her high as a fucking bird with a needle sticking through her neck!

When I get to my room, I take a shower and dress in sweatpants, a large vest and my slides.  I grab my phone, earphones and everything else I'll need throughout the day. I walk out of my room, making sure to lock it shut. I walk to my sister's room and find Samather fixing Jayla's hair.
