Avoidance isn't a solution

One year later...

"Y/n! Open the door already!" The sound of fist banging on your apartment door awakened you from your sleep.

I sighed loudly and kicked my feet off the bed.

"Y/n dear open the door." That voice made you halt. You mentally screamed and punched the air.

You quickly opened the door but not before taking a deep breath and forcing a smile.

"Why hello Mother what brings you here." You wanted to cry. The Hokage had given you a few days off due to you having missions back to back.

The original plan was to get as much sleep as possible but that doesn't look like it's happening anytime soon.

"Mom what are you- hey stop" She opened my fridge in a displeased manner and I turned to my best friend with a slight glare who only smiled.

Kurenei and I had been friends since our academy days. I don't remember much of how exactly we became friends but I know we just clicked.

My parents often traveled a lot and were very wealthy from their jewelry business, whatever you want to call it. To say my mother is the most stuck-up...

"Y/n, why is everything in here so gloomy? Have I not raised you to be a proper lady?" She snarled and I gave up.

"I just got back home-"

"That isn't an excuse you knew I was stopping by soon. You could've at least cleaned up for your mother." She complained.

I took a shakey deep breath to keep myself from lashing out at her. Kurenei nervously laughed and swooped in front of her before she could see anything else.

"Mrs. L/n I think you should go catch up with the other moms. It's been a while since you've last seen them." She smiled innocently.

She smiled and nodded her head as if she was in thought. "Yoshino did ask me to stop by next time I returned, I guess I'll do that before it gets too late." She said making her way to the door.

"Y/n meet me at that one restaurant by the Yamanaka's flower shop tomorrow at 7:30." She says leaving no room for argument.

"Kurenei you are more than welcome to join us." She smiled causing her to nod.

At this point, I stopped faking it, even though Mother knew I was this entire time. She annoyed me. Real bad.

"Well now that it's over"

"Why didn't you warn me?" I dropped onto the couch sulking. "You're the one who stays cooped away in this....place." She tossed a pillow at my head.

"This place isn't that bad..." We observed my apartment in silence for a few seconds before laughing.

I had little to no furniture, empty cabinets, and one single couch. In my bedroom, I had a king-size bed and a few boxes from the last time I moved...

After I broke up with Kakashi, I moved into a whole new place. Staying there pissed me off more than it should've considering him still getting praise around the village for his 'amazing work'.

"I'm never here so there's no point in wasting money-"

"I guarantee you have enough money to retire if you wanted to plus your family-"

"You know I will never use their money Kurenei. All she would do is throw it in my face."

"You get what I'm saying n/n. You still have time in your life, get out and go have fun. Being in the anbu doesn't mean you can't have a life." She reasoned.

Even though I didn't want to admit it...Kurenei was right.

"Get ready we are hanging out tonight." I groaned and lazily walked to the bathroom.
