Whispers of Obsession

The moon sure is beautiful

A messenger bird circled my home. I sent it a calling whistle and removed the note from its claw.

'The Hokage has requested you.' The rain began to fall harder from the sky. I took a last look at my opened front door which Tobi stood in the shadows of.

I gripped the letter tightly as I took a shortcut through the woods that surrounded my home. I felt the mud squish under every step I took.

My chest heaved and my knuckles were white. The people at the vendors in the village held umbrellas to protect themselves from the rain that soaked my clothing,

"Hey watch it-" I ran to the Hokage's office with such urgency. Once I arrived the doors already seemed to be open.

"Y/n." Kotetsu murmured.

"Tell me."  The room had a few people from the suppression mission. All but one. "The Akatsuki members were found but once we went into battle we discovered they were immortal."

"The group that discovered them was Shikamaru, Izumo, Ketetsu, and ... Asuma" Her face was full of guilt.

"I see his team but w-here is he?" My voice quivered and fist tightened. "He went out for a smoke or something?" A small tearful laugh escaped my lips.

"Asuma was very hurt in the battle and is now in a coma. He's currently in critical condition. We aren't sure yet if he'll be able to fully regain consciousness or not." My mouth went dry and I turned to walk out.

"Can I see him?" She took a deep sigh. "We can't allow any visitors at the moment." The nurse holding the clipboard beside Tsunade spoke.

"He's in room 206." The nurse widened her eyes. "But lady Tsunade-" The Hokage raised her hand silencing her.

I looked over to his team whose faces were all dead and distraught. "Who's responsible for this?" Before Lady Tsunade could object or say anything, Shikamaru raised his head and looked me dead in the eye.

"Hidan and Kakuzu of the Akatsuki..." Anything can be killed if you do it right. "Okay."

I walked to Asuma's room. Slowly. Each step felt as if I had weights wrapped around my feet pulling me to the ground. I placed my hand on the doorknob and I closed my eyes exhaling a breath.

What I wasn't prepared for was the wires and tubes that were connected to almost every part of his body. I leaned against the wall by the door gripping into it for support.

My face was slightly swollen and puffy from the tears but sadness wasn't the only thing that covered me. It was fear and lots of building up anger.

It was as if there was a scene change because instead of Asuma, I saw Ryoko. Another brother. I'm losing another one...

Hours pass. Asuma's heart dropped twice.

I sat on the couch in the corner of the room staring at his almost lifeless hand.

The monitor announces every beep. The tube forcefully exhaled and inhaled air into his weakened body.

Hidan and Kakuzu.

Those names. I've never wanted revenge like this since Ryoko. However, in his case, I never found who killed Ryoko.

It was suspected six rogue ninjas were responsible. I killed them all.

Danzo has tried to get at me but I doubt he really knows who's responsible. He has a thing for using people until he's tired enough to discard them. I learned from experience...

Hidan. Kakuzu.

I do need information on those two. Danzo knows more than he should.

I stood up walking to the window. The rain ran down the window but it was clear enough to see everything on the other side of it.

I closed my eyes exhaling before opening them at the sudden presence I sensed. It was a foundation ninja. My posture straightened and my eyes stared back at the one who spectated me.

I nodded my head with a laugh.

I watched the way they stood and carried themself which revealed he was a male.

He blinked and I was no longer in the window of the hospital room. Instead, my foot was kicking him onto the ground and a kunai to his throat. He held up a hand indicating for me to stop and then pulled an envelope from the cloak.

I hesitantly took it and kicked myself off the member. "He expects you to see you there." With that, he was gone.
