"Hello, I'm Y/n L/n. I'll be one of the Jounin escorting you to The Hidden Mist Village." You looked at the 15-year-old girl who hardly looked at you.

"You're the Purple flame of the Leaf." She commented rudely. "And you." She clicked her tongue looking at Kakashi.

"Kakashi Hatake. The Copy Ninja." She tucked her hair behind her ear walking past us through the gates. You looked up at Kakashi who was already glancing up at you.

"You're off to go?" You hear Izumo say with a smile. You gripped your backpack straps and smiled sending him a nod. "Yeah."

Kakashi however ignored him pushing past you and joining where Hanami was standing. "How long before you're back-"

"Y/n." You hear Kakashi say making you roll your eyes. Normally for a mission, you meet minutes before your actual departure time so you have time.

The displeased look that covered his face was enough to let you know he was annoyed. "We have a mission to attend." Izuna scoffed and placed his hands in his pockets.

"Hey, I'll see once I return." He nodded and returned to his stand where Kotetsu was waiting for him.

As we took more steps away from the village, you felt Kakashi's eyes but you refused to break the silence that filled the air between the three of us.

The weather was pretty nice. Birds were chirping without a care in the world and squirrels along with other animals hung around the forest.

Since our destination was the Mist, we were required to take a boat so that was our first stop. The arrival there would take an estimated two days including when we return to the leaf.

This also would mean I would be stuck with Kakashi for almost a week.

"Hatake you don't have to fucking shadow me," You said keeping your voice low enough for him to hear. "Why would I do that?" He smugly said as you shot him a glare.

"Hey, you two. I'm pretty sure we are paying you to protect me." Hanami spat. "Right." You curtly said.

What's up with this kid?

You scanned the trees and mapped out the area in front of you. Not far in the distance, you saw the water where a boat was awaiting.

"L/n," You smiled and greeted the elderly man. You had several missions where he was your boatman so being familiar with him wasn't anything new.

"Yosef. How are you?" He sighed and shook his head. "Never better. I'm glad I get to see you again, Marie hasn't stopped talking about you." You smiled at the mentioned name.

Marie was his wife. She helped me once when my entire team was ambushed and I was pretty injured myself.

We boarded the boat and began to set for the hidden mist village. "How is she?" You softly said.

"Well, we think the medicine that you brought her is helping. She's back on her feet but still isn't at her full strength yet." You glanced at Hanami who had taken a seat and was looking up at Yosef.

"How did a sick woman aid you? That story sounds made up if you ask me." She has a lack of respect I see. You turned to Yosef expecting him to be offended by the girl's words but he only smiled. "She may be sick but she's one hell of a wife. I'm glad to have her."

"If it wasn't for Marie, I'd probably be dead." You felt Kakashi turn fully to the conversation at hand. "I had a mission and we were ambushed. I didn't know how far or where any nearby village was. I lost a lot of blood too so I thought that was it."

"Marie found this poor girl in the forest by our dock. We took her home and treated her injuries. She sent out a messenger crow and once the leaf got word she was the only survivor, they sent a team to ensure she made it back." He explained further. "She had a wound on the side of her."

"I still don't see how any of that could happen-" You raised your shirt showing the scar along your side immediately silencing her. "I had all of my supplies taken by the enemy and they thought I would be dead by the time they returned but I made it out."

"When Marie found me, I was hesitant because in times like those...you don't know who to trust." Yosef let out a small laugh as he steered the boat. "Y/n was more than a little hesitant. She was so stubborn but she finally let us help her.

"Yeah very much." You laughed. "But something deep down told me she was good. Trustworthy. She stitched me up and helped me. I wouldn't forget nor make something like that up."

"So what's the point of being a ninja if you die for nothing," Hanami commented. "Being a ninja does nothing if you are setting yourself up to die."

You took in a shaky breath trying to hold in your harsh words that were about to be thrown at the girl. Kakashi thought back to the people who risked their lives for the village trying to restrain himself also. Yosef's smile dropped at the girl's words.

"What have you ever done then besides have everything handed to you? You're from a rich family and have never experienced losing those close to you. We become ninjas as a way for us to honorably serve our villages and to ensure our families and future families are protected from this cruel world." You leaned in front of the wide-eyed girl.

"You sit pretty and have people that do every single thing for you." You clenched your fist. "Now ask yourself, are you in any position to talk about the sacrifices that we make?"
