"By the time I come back, I hope you're awake." I pressed my lips together and tightened the grip on my backpack straps. "If I'm being honest, I'm not sure how this will go but I can't sit around and allow the people who did this to you to walk free."

I exited the hospital and pulled my mask over my head. I couldn't leave yet though. I had to make two stops.

The first one.

"Y/n, what are you doing here this late?" I scanned my surroundings before stepping through the window. "Nevermind. I feel like I know." She sighed before pulling me into a tight hug.

I hugged her just as tightly. "I know I can't say anything to you that will change your mind but the only thing I can say is please make it back to us." She pulled away and walked to the table grabbing a photograph.

"Is that what I think it is..." I gasped grabbing the picture from her hand. "I know this won't make you stay but it'll give you more motivation to come back in one piece." She softly laughed as a tear rolled down her face.

I hugged her once more before turning to leave. One more stop. I couldn't go into this blindly.

I knocked on the sliding door of the compound. A few minutes later, a teary-eyed Nara opened the door. "I know now may not be the best time to ask but-"

"I'll tell you everything you want to know." I was slightly taken aback by his sudden statement but nodded as he opened the door.

"This is where we would play Shoji." He sat down on the floor and I took a seat as well crisscrossed. "Can I offer you anything?"

"No thank you." We stared out into the woods. Then he explained to me in explicit detail how the battle went.

"Are you going after them by yourself Y/n?" His fist clenched and I remained silent. "So don't let Hidan get my blood and Kakuzu seems to be a long-distance fighter."

I stand up only to be halted by a grab on my wrist. "Y/n." His eyes were glossy.

"I'm only tracking them for now. No promises on whether or not I'll kill them before you come up with that strategy of yours." I softly removed his hand from my arm.

"How'd you know-" I picked up my gear and looked back at him. "Let me come with you!" He blurted and I shook my head.

"I can come up with a strategy- I can use my shadow possession- Anything! You'll die if you fight them alone!" He rambled and scrambled to his feet.

"You said that fighting without a strategy is unwise yet that's what you're doing now!" I sighed and turned to him. "I don't want to be responsible for you getting hurt. My own decisions are my responsibility."

"I will alert the Hokage." He threatened looking down at the ground. I appeared behind him and sighed once more. "By the time you wake up, I'll be gone. I trust you'll have a plan by the time I see you again. I'm counting on you."

With that, I knocked him out.

A few days passed and I was lying low in a village collecting answers from villagers. I'm sure the Hokage was informed of my departure but I'm not sure if Shikamaru was the one who told her or if she just knew.

I've also found out that I have a bounty on my head. I'm sure it was the Akatsuki's doing. Sure I had one from the lethal missions I was sent on in the anbu but a person with my description was set to be found.

I pulled the scarf over my face and continued striding through the crowd of people.

"Hey-" I jumped in surprise and the hand that tapped my shoulder.

"Don't say my name. Follow me." I opened the doors to a bar that was sectioned off from the busy street. "Table for two?" I nodded and glanced at the guys who nervously fiddled.

Once we were seated, I looked out the window beside us glancing at everyone who walked by.

"Do you have what I asked for?"

"How are you?" I placed an envelope on the table and the man sighed taking it. "Give that to Kurenei."

"You know nothing about this is safe right?" He stated in a serious tone. "Why are you doing this? This unplanned revenge plan you have will only get you hurt."

"That's of no use to you." I snapped clenching my fist. "I have no one left, Jiraiya. Now if you don't mind..."

"Right. Anyway, here's a breakdown of what to know about each member. Sasori. He's a puppet user originally from the sand village. His appearance is known to change a lot but once you see him, that'll probably be the last thing you see before you die."

"Deidara is from the hidden stone village. He specializes in explosions. From what I heard, you've encountered him once before. His specialty is using some sort of clay that allows him to detonate it."

"Kisame from the Mist. Well, he joined the seven ninja swordsman of the Mist and that's how he got the sword he carries with himself now. Its name is Samehada."

"Are you two ready to order?" A waitress approached. "A coffee and a tea. That'll be all thanks" She ripped off the paper and walked away.

"Now where was I... Right. It's not that I don't think you are capable of fighting an Akatsuki member. It's that not only are they strong but they travel in pairs most of the time."

"I'm aware."

"There's one who wears an orange mask. He goes by Tobi. I believe he-"

My eyes shot open.

"What was that name again?"
