On the way to Lando's family home, Alexis was a nervous fidgety wreck. She hide it as best as she could, facing towards the window in the passenger seat as she watched the world go by. Lando was bubbling away with excitement at being with his entire family again; the first time since Christmas. He was giddily singing along to songs that came through the car speakers from his playlist, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel along to the beat.

The pair made small talk throughout the drive, which mainly consisted of Lando telling Alexis small things about his family; their personalities, their jobs, and everything in between. Alexis would make mental notes and was trying to remember it all, which only made her brain hurt more. It felt like information overload, especially with her overthinking making her head spin.

It fell silent between them for a while, the only sound coming from Lando humming along to a Post Malone song. He took a glance over at Alexis, as she chewed away at her fingernails and stared out the window. Without speaking a word, he placed a hand on her thigh, giving it a squeeze.

Alexis turned her head to look at him in response, but he simply stared ahead and focussed on driving. He didn't hesitate to turn his hand on her leg, his palm now facing upwards. He wiggled his fingers, and Alexis caught on. She placed her small hand in his larger one, as Lando laced their fingers together and placed their hands back down on her lap.

"They're going to love you." Lando said without taking his eyes off the road in front of him.

It was exactly what Alexis needed to hear. And with those words echoing in her mind, as well as his comforting hand in hers, she truly felt like meeting his family was going to be just fine.

And as soon as she entered the front door with Lando, her worries melted away. With Lando's hands full of their luggage, his Mum Cisca immediately embraced Alexis in a suffocatingly tight bear hug, stroking her hair and kissing her cheek.

"Yeah, nice to see you too Mum." Lando joked as he huffed and pulled the bags through the door.

"Oh, you know I'm always happy to see you darling." Cisca smiled, planting a kiss to his head, before turning back to Alexis. "But it's so lovely to meet you Alexis."

"It's great to meet you too." Alexis smiled. The house was bustling with the aromas of a home-cooked meal and the laughter of Lando's family members catching up, as they all sat around the kitchen bench.

Wandering in to steal the show was little Mila, who stumbled over and stared up at the new person in the house with curiosity. She mumbled incoherent baby babble for a moment, before she turned to Lando, pointed, and said, "Lala."

"That's right, Mila. That's your Uncle Lala." Oliver, Lando's brother and Mila's father, said.

"Hi, Mila!" Lando cooed, placing the bags down at his feet. "Did you miss me?"

Alexis heart could just about burst watching him interact with his niece. His demeanour had already relaxed the second they stepped foot inside the home, but he had melted into a little puddle in front of Mila. He seemed so gentle and soft with her, crouching down to her level.

Mila lifted her arms in the air, indicating she wanted to be picked up. Lando immediately obliged, lifting her up and hoisting her into the air for a moment, which caused Mila to erupt into a fit of giggles. Lando then settled her on his hip, before moving towards Alexis.
