It was now a couple days later, and Alexis was lounging on the couch, flipping through a book while Lily, sprawled beside her, was engrossed in her Uni work on her laptop. The room was cozy and quiet, the sunlight filtering through the curtains and casting a warm glow over the space. Oscar was out at the MTC, leaving Alexis and Lily alone to enjoy a rare moment of calm.
The serenity of the afternoon was interrupted by the trill of Alexis' phone. Glancing at the screen, she saw it was Lando calling. She picked it up, her heart quickening with anticipation.
"Hey, Lando." Alexis answered.
"Hey baby," Lando's voice came through the phone, sounding more serious than usual. "Just letting you know that I finally told Jon about my concussion."
Alexis sat up a little straighter, her curiosity piqued. "How'd it go?"
There was a brief pause before Lando spoke again, his tone carrying a mixture of frustration and relief. "Well, he was definitely not happy. I've never seen him so fired up before. He was really disappointed that I kept it from him for so long."
Alexis could hear the tension in Lando's voice, and she could only imagine how Jon must have reacted. "So what's the plan from here?"
"He's put together a procedure to make sure I'm looking after myself," Lando explained. "He wanted to pull me out of the next race in Budapest, but I refused. I know it's not the best idea to push through it, but... I did it at Silverstone. I can do it again in Budapest."
Alexis listened intently, her heart racing as she processed the information. "I understand where you're coming from, but it sounds like Jon's concerns are valid. Are you... are you sure you're okay to race?"
Lando's voice softened. "I'm pushing myself, but I'll be careful. Jon's gonna make sure I have regular check-ins and that I'm following a stricter recovery regimen."
There was a moment of silence as Alexis absorbed Lando's words. "I'm glad you're taking steps to address this. It sounds like you're getting the support you need now."
"Yeah," Lando replied, sounding a bit more at ease. "I appreciate you being understanding. I know it's been a lot to deal with."
Alexis hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Are you okay?"
There was a brief pause on the other end of the line. "Actually, I was hoping you might come stay at mine tonight. I could really use the company."
A small smile appeared on Alexis' face despite the seriousness of their conversation. "Of course. I'll come over."
"Thanks Al," Lando said, his voice softening with gratitude. "It means a lot to me."
After saying their goodbyes, Alexis hung up and gathered a few things and said her goodbyes to Lily before heading out.
When she arrived, Lando greeted her with a warm hug, his earlier tension replaced by a more relaxed demeanour. They settled in together, the comfort of being with each other providing a welcome sense of normalcy amidst the challenges they were facing.
As the evening progressed, they talked more about their situation, the progress Lando was making with his health, and the importance of their support for each other. It wasn't a perfect solution, but it was a step in the right direction, and for now, that was enough.
They ended the night wrapped in each other's arms, the comfort of their closeness offering a momentary escape from the pressures and uncertainties that lay ahead.

The next morning, Alexis awoke to an unusual stillness beside her. Blinking sleepily, she noticed Lando was no longer in bed. Disoriented, she sat up and glanced around the room, expecting to see him somewhere nearby. She assumed he must be in another part of the house, so she got up and headed for the ensuite to shower.
