The following morning, light filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow across the room. Alexis stirred, feeling the warmth of Lando's arm draped over her. She turned to face him, finding his eyes already open and watching her with a tender smile.
"Good morning, baby." Lando whispered, his voice husky with sleep.
"Hi." Alexis replied, her heart fluttering as she leaned in for a kiss. It was a gentle, lingering kiss that spoke volumes about their growing connection.
They lay there for a few moments, savoring the quiet intimacy before the hectic day ahead. But soon, the reality of Lando's schedule began to set in.
"Media day always feels like a marathon." Lando groaned, reluctantly pulling away and stretching.
Alexis nodded, sitting up and running a hand through her hair. "Are you ready for it?"
Lando chuckled. "As ready as I can be. It's part of the job, but it doesn't make it any less exhausting."
After a quick breakfast, Lando began preparing for the day. Alexis watched as he meticulously suited up, adjusting his team-branded attire with practiced ease. She felt a mix of pride and apprehension, knowing the scrutiny he would face and the potential impact on their budding relationship.
"Are you sure you don't want to walk in together?" Lando asked, turning to her with concern.
Alexis shook her head, giving him a reassuring smile. "I'm not ready for the media storm just yet. Besides, I think it's best if we keep things low-key for now."
Lando nodded, understanding. "Alright. But I'll be thinking about you the whole time."
They shared another kiss, this one filled with a promise of more moments to come. Then, with a final squeeze of her hand, Lando left for the media frenzy, leaving Alexis to get ready at her own pace.
A little while later, Alexis made her way to the paddock. The buzz of activity was already palpable, with team members, journalists, and fans milling about. She slipped through the crowd, heading towards the McLaren garage where Oscar was likely already in the thick of things.
When she entered the garage, she spotted Oscar reviewing some data with his engineers. He looked up as she approached, his expression a mix of surprise and guarded curiosity.
"Hey, Osc." Alexis greeted, trying to keep her tone light.
"Hey, Lex." He replied, setting down his tablet. "Didn't expect to see you here so early."
Alexis took a deep breath. "I wanted to talk to you. Make sure we were alright."
Oscar nodded, signaling for a brief break from his team. They stepped to the side, finding a quieter corner of the bustling garage.
"Look, Oscar," Alexis began, "I know you were a bit thrown when I told you about Lando and I. I know you didn't think it was so serious. But I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't think it would work in the long run."
Oscar sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "It's not that I don't understand, Lex. It's just... it's complicated. Lando's my teammate, and I worry about how this could affect things."
"I get that," Alexis said earnestly. "But we're being careful. We don't want to cause any problems for you or the team. And I just want you to be okay with it."
Oscar studied her for a moment, then his expression softened. "Look, if you're happy, that's what matters."
Alexis felt a wave of relief wash over her. "Thank you, Osc. That means a lot to me."
They shared a hug, the tension between them finally easing. As they pulled apart, Oscar gave her a reassuring smile. "Just promise you'll talk to me, okay? Keep me in the loop. But don't tell me everything, if you know what I mean. Some things you can definitely keep to yourselves."
