As they walked hand-in-hand through the bustling paddock, Alexis felt a thrill of familiarity mixed with nervous energy. The sea of team colours and logos surrounded them, but she only had eyes for Lando. His boyish charm shone brighter than ever, his smile infectious as he waved at fans and fellow drivers alike.

"Ready for a wild weekend?" Lando teased, glancing sideways at her. "Because I'm definitely ready to prove that we're a top team on track. And I'm also ready to make sure no one distracts you while I'm racing."

Alexis laughed, the warmth of his hand in hers grounding her amid the whirlwind. "You know I'm here for support, not distractions. Just try to keep your eyes on the track, not on me."

"Isn't that the same thing?" He quipped, winking at her, his eyes sparkling with mischief.

As they approached the McLaren garage, Alexis felt a flutter of nerves. She'd told Oscar and Lily just a few days earlier about her and Lando's reunion, and while Lily had been ecstatic - practically vibrating with excitement, Oscar had adopted his typical dry demeanour.

"Just make sure this is what you guys both really want," He had said, his calm voice carrying an edge of concern. "I don't wanna see either of you hurt again."

"I know," Alexis had replied, meeting his gaze. "But we've both changed. We can handle this."

Oscar had nodded slowly, his expression softening. "Alright, then. Just... make sure Lando doesn't turn into a complete idiot again." It was a reluctant acceptance, but she could see the understanding in his eyes. Oscar cared deeply for Alexis, and their bond meant everything to her.

Now, as Alexis and Lando entered the garage, the energy shifted. Mechanics bustled around, checking tire pressures and adjusting setups. The smell of rubber and fuel filled the air, mingling with the distant sound of engines roaring to life. Lando squeezed her hand tighter, a silent reminder of their connection amid the chaos.

"I'll see you after practice," He said, his voice lowering slightly, the playful tone replaced with sincerity. "Just promise you won't let Max grill you about our relationship the whole time."

"I can't make any promises," She replied, biting back a smile. "You know he'll ask all the questions."

Lando chuckled, running his thumb over the delicate ring on her finger, the one engraved with his initial. "He can ask, but just know I'm not sharing you with anyone. Not for too long, anyways."

A rush of warmth spread through Alexis at his words. "You're very possessive now, aren't you?" She teased lightly, though she couldn't deny the thrill it gave her.

"Only with you," He said, his tone playful again. "It's my job to make sure you know how lucky I feel to have you as mine again."

As Lando gave her a swift kiss and turned to head further into the garage, Alexis felt a swell of pride. She watched him go; the confident strides of a man ready to take on the world. She knew there would be challenges ahead - not just on the track but also in their relationship - but for now, she felt anchored, her heart beating in sync with his.

Finding a spot in the garage, she settled next to Max. The buzz of the first practice session began and cars thundered past, the sheer speed making her pulse quicken. She could see Lando, his focus unwavering as he navigated the turns, each lap a testament to his determination.
