The apartment was eerily quiet except for the muted sound of the rain tapping against the windows. Alexis lay curled up in bed, her face buried in the pillow, tears soaking the fabric. The emotional toll of the previous day was too much to bear; she had been crying on and off, too drained to get up or even think about eating or drinking.

She heard the faint whispers outside her bedroom door - Oscar and Lily must have returned from their respective days. Her heart sank with a mix of hope and dread as the door creaked open and Oscar stepped into the room. His face was etched with concern, though he struggled to hide his awkwardness.

"Lex?" He said softly, stepping further into the room. "What's going on?"

The sight of her brother, who was usually so calm and collected, sent Alexis into a fresh wave of tears. She buried her face further into her pillow, her sobs muffled but still audible. Oscar's face shifted from concern to a look of sheer horror. He fumbled, unsure of what to do, and his awkwardness turned into a frantic energy as he reached out to her.

"Alexis? Jesus fucking Christ. What happened?" He asked, his voice tight. "Tell me what's wrong."

She couldn't bring herself to answer, her chest heaving with each cry. Oscar's helplessness grew, and he began calling out, "Lily! Lily, get in here!"

Lily appeared almost immediately, her presence a stark contrast to the chaos in the room. With her calm and graceful demeanour, she took in the scene - Oscar standing near the bed, visibly distressed, and Alexis sobbing uncontrollably.

Lily moved swiftly to Alexis' side, her touch gentle as she rested a hand on Alexis' shoulder. "Hey Lex," She said softly, her voice soothing. "It's going to be okay. Just breathe with me."

Oscar hovered nearby, his face a mix of worry and frustration as he folded his arms over his chest. He watched as Lily worked to calm Alexis, her soothing words and tender touch gradually bringing some peace to the room. Alexis' breathing began to steady, though her tears continued to fall silently.

After several minutes, Alexis' sobs began to quiet, though her shoulders still shook with the residual tremors of her grief. Lily's soothing hand on her back provided a steady warmth, a lifeline in the sea of despair. Oscar stood to the side, his gaze fixed on his sister with an expression of deep concern and helplessness.

Alexis finally managed to lift her head from the pillow, her eyes red and swollen. She drew a shaky breath, trying to calm the ragged edge of her voice. "It's... it's just been so hard. Lando... we... I broke up with him yesterday. I tried to tell him how hard it's been - how he's been pushing me away, and how I'm just... so exhausted."

Her voice cracked as she continued, each word a struggle to release from her chest. "He's been hurting, and I've been trying to help, but he just kept shutting me out. I thought... I thought maybe things could get better, but... I don't know. It just felt like nothing was working."

Lily remained silent, her presence a calming force as she rubbed gentle circles on Alexis' back. Her eyes were filled with empathy, and she nodded encouragingly as Alexis spoke.

Oscar's face darkened with a growing sense of anger and protectiveness. Seeing his sister in such a state - because of his teammate - sent his blood boiling. He muttered under his breath, "Fucking Lando..." Before raising his voice in frustration as he said, "I'm gonna kill him."

Lily glanced at Oscar with a mix of exasperation and concern. "Oscar, that's not going to help. That's not what Alexis needs right now."

Oscar's expression shifted from anger to remorse. He ran a hand through his hair, trying to gather his composure. "Right, sorry. I just... I can't stand seeing her like this."
