He shrugged before his head turned around and he looked at me in horror.
"Charles?!" Max asked surprised and slowly his face calmed down, not looking particular happy though.
The Dutchman then looked around and softly brushed my hands away from his waist. Therefore my smile dropped and I rose an eyebrow, confused by his reaction.
"A... Aren't you happy to see me?" I stuttered, feeling a lump in my through and tears already developing.
"N... Ye... Yeah I... I do." Max returned slowly, still scanning the garage like he was looking for someone, before he grabbed my hand and pulled me with him, "Follow me."
Still confused I stumbled after him until we were standing in his drivers room. He closed the door and leaned against it while I still looked at him in question, brushing my suit jacket straight and looking into his eyes.
"Why didn't you tell me that you would come?" the Dutchman then asked me, I still couldn't figure out what he was thinking at the moment.
"I... I wanted to surprise you." I stuttered before I cleared my throat, "After your last results I thought you would be happy about having me here with you, cheering for you from the garage. We haven't seen each other for a couple of weeks now and I... I missed you."
The last part was only a whisper over my lips and I nervously bit my bottom lip while glancing up at him. Only then Max's face also softend and he stepped over, taking my hands in his.
"I'm so sorry, I'm just surprised and confused and it's quite stressful. I'm starting from pole but"
"But that doesn't mean anything and everything can change during the race." I finished his sentence, which made him smile, before I added, "I know babe, that's why I am here now, like I said, I'm your lucky charm."
"You are." the Dutchman mumbled as he cupped my face and finally laid his lips on mine, god had I missed them.
The kiss though was slow and sweet, even though I felt that my body craved for more, needed to feel him closer, god it had really been too long. Suddenly a knock interrupted us and Max's race engineer said that it was time.
The Dutchman only rolled his eyes while I giggled softly before he brushed over my cheek.
"Can you stay in here during the sprint?" he then asked, which caught me by surprise.
"Y... Yeah sure, but why?" I returned, confused why he didn't want me down there in the garage.
"When you're there then all the media is focused on us and I really don't need that extra attention right now, I just wanna focus on the sprint." Max explained and I relaxed as this was an understandable argument.
"Fine, I'll do it babe." I said, the pet name rolling so easily over my lips by now.
"You're the best." Max mumbled into my hair as he left a kiss there, "I'll have a little surprise then for you."
"Really?" my eyes widened like on a little child at Christmas, "What is it?"
"I have to talk to someone first but I think it will be fine, I'm gonna tell you after the race, okay liefje?"
A hot shiver ran down my back as he used that nickname, cause he hadn't used it in quite some time now.
"Hm." was all I returned while I cuddled into his chest, "I missed you."
"Fine my love, I have to go now, like really cause there's a sprint race and I'm kinda part of it." Max chuckled as he stepped over to the door, before he turned around and winked at me, "This suit looks really hot on you by the way, can't wait to pull it off you."
