-/- Netherlands 2022 - race day -/-
Proudly I looked at the podium where the king was handing over the trophy to the winner of the Dutch GP, my boyfriend once again. Except for two times Max had won all the races between Monaco and here, he was simply incredible.
The championship also looked pretty good for him at the moment, over one hundred points in front of Carlos. The Spaniard was still dating Kelly, but luckily they hadn't made our life any harder, probably realizing that they would have no chance against us.
Our summer break though wasn't quite relaxing, at least not for me as my mother got sick and I had to managed the whole palace. Luckily she was feeling way better now, but she still stayed at home, the trip to Holland too exhausting.
But Arthur was here too, like most of the time as his relationship with Cathy was really serious and now even the wedding topic was slowly coming onto the table. A topic that was still open between me and Max, not the wedding though as this was planned, but the proposal.
There had been a moment back in Monaco where I had nearly dropped down on one knee, but pulled back in the last moment, thinking that this wasn't perfect enough. But now I had a new plan, one for tomorrow to be exact.
"I'm so so proud of you babe." I welcomed Max in my arms once he got of the podium.
Like last year he handed his trophy to Cathy, who was standing next to me, before he fully pulled me into the hug, Arthur this time the one taking a picture.
"Had to win my home race one last time." the Dutchman chuckled and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek.
Before I could return anything, the Dutch king stepped closer, smiling before he laughed.
"That's true, and you did it the best way." he said before he turned to me and sarcastically said, "Can't believe that you really steal one of the best athletes of my country."
Arthur, Cathy and Max laughed while I was scared looking up to the king, before he also started laughing and laid his hand on my shoulder.
"But I'm glad he will be a Monegasque then, my favorite country and family outside of the Netherlands." he chuckled and pulled Max into a hug.
As I had realized that he wasn't mad I also started laughing.
"Well, you get my brother in return. I mean he sucks at sports but I think he will fit perfectly into your family." I said and smirked over to Arthur, who's jaw dropped before he slapped my arm.
"Boys, don't fight." Cathy admonished us, laying one arm over each our shoulders, "We're a big family now, all together."
"We aren't even married." I sighed and rolled my eyes, causing Max a giggle.
"Yes!" the Dutch princess returned and took my hand, holding it up, "I'm still waiting for the ring on here."
While saying it she looked at Max, who first looked shocked before he started laughing.
"It was quite stressful the last weeks and months." he simply said and I was glad at it.
Cause what I didn't need was him proposing before me. I mean I would be happy, no question, but I finally had my plan and I wanted to stick to it so that everything would be perfect. Also I knew Max and luckily he wasn't the romantic type so he probably didn't even had a ring by now, if he even ever considered getting me one.
"Let them figure it out in their own time sweety." the king said to his daughter before he looked at me and Max, "We sadly have to go now, my wife is waiting with the dinner."
