-|- Netherlands 2021 - F1 race week -|-
The last two weeks had been pure horror for me. Every night I had had a nightmare about my father finding out about our date, him dethroning me or simply the world laughing at me. Because of that I had tried everything to forget the Dutchman, his cute smile and his confident personality with which I had fallen in love with.
But it couldn't be, it couldn't be love and it surely wasn't. It surely was only a little crush and my mind pushed it up as it was the first exciting thing that happened to me in years. Never had I even had a close friend or someone I was getting on well with, outside the palace.
So it was all just an imagination. Still, my brother had tried to get every information out of me, saying sorry for our father but in the same breath telling me that he would find a solution. I was still surprised why he was so eager to 'help' me, but I simply accepted it as I didn't want to think about it for too long, about him.
The fact that I was now landing in the Netherlands wasn't making it any better, but my father had sent me here, to meet our friends, the Dutch royal family again. We had just seen each other a couple of months ago, but like I said we were pretty close, it felt almost like family.
That was also a thing why I didn't understand my father as he had said once more, before me departure, that I should consider Catharina-Amalia, the Dutch princess as a potential partner aka wife.
I knew I was slowly getting into that age, but I really saw no need for my father to push me into any sort of relationship. But I guess he was still some generations behind where marriage was a deal between families and not an act of love.
"Charles?" Davide got me back to reality.
He was on this trip with me as my assistant as my father didn't need him back home and I needed someone here with me for various reasons.
"Yeah?" I returned and looked over to him as we were now sitting in the back of a car.
"A present for princess Catharina, your father said I should give you this so you can give it to her." the Frenchman said and pulled out a casket that looked like the one of a necklace.
I would never gift my partner or potential partner a piece of jewelry, but only because I couldn't picture Verstappen with a necklace or rings. My mind stopped as I thought him again and I quickly shook my head before smiling at Davide.
"Thanks." I sighed before I cleared my throat, "Has he said something about her, about me asking her out or anything like that?"
I knew that Davide was a friend of mine and that he would tell me, no matter how close he was with my father, he always understood me and didn't judge me.
"Well, he said that I should encourage you to make a move, to really think about the situation." he explained and I only rolled my eyes, already suspecting such an answer.
"But you know that won't be happening." I returned, aware that Davide knew about me liking men.
I once told him everything after a nightmare and like I expected was he was fully calm and understood me. I never though said any name so he had no knowledge about me crushing on a certain formula one driver.
"I know Charles, but as long as you don't have anyone in mind I would say you can maybe give her a chance, she's really nice."
"I know that she's nice, she's basically like a sister, we've grown up together." I explained before I got more quite, "And maybe there is someone else."
