(Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepp)
After the piercing beep echoed through the room, Vanya glanced at her phone, her eyes burning with anger. Despite her clenched jaw, her hand trembled as she held the device.
The multitude of unanswered questions swirling in her mind now had another companion: Who was the relentless caller? Each ring seemed to taunt her, adding to the already overwhelming confusion and frustration. Vanya couldn’t shake the feeling that this persistent intruder was someone who knew exactly how to push her buttons, making her wonder not just about the identity of the caller, but also about their intentions.
Vanya got dressed and took her handbag . She meticulously packed her handbag, placing her wallet, prescription slip, and phone inside with care. Once everything was securely stowed, she swung the bag over her right shoulder. She locked the door behind her, ensuring it was secure before turning away.
Vanya's footsteps echoed in the quiet hallway as she started her walk towards the main door of the house. Each step towards the chemist shop was still focused on the The Letter and The Call. The late afternoon sun cast long shadows on the pavement as she moved towards the shop.
When Vanya reached the shop she put her hand inside the handbag to take the prescription slip out As she reached the chemist shop, Vanya put her hand inside her handbag to retrieve the prescription slip. Just then, a few young teens came running from her right side, accidentally hitting her shoulder and causing her bag to fall.
Before Vanya could raise her voice, they quickly apologized and started picking up the items that had spilled out. They handed her the bag, and Vanya, too exhausted to argue, simply turned back to the shop.Inside, she asked for her medication and the price. After paying, she glanced around, her mind still preoccupied with the mysterious caller. Why had they called, and why hadn't they approached her while she was out? She looked back at the alley once more before entering her house, a sense of unfamiliarity washing over her.
Inside, the house was silent. Vanya checked on her bhabhi, who was asleep, and found her father sitting quietly on the living room sofa. She handed him the medication, reassuring him that bhabhi would be fine. Receiving no response, she didn't push further and headed to her room.
She closed the door behind her, changed her clothes, and began to take out her phone, wallet, and prescription slip from her bag. Just then, a piece of paper fell out—something she knew she had never put in her bag. She unfolded it and felt a shock as she read the computer-printed words.
