Author Present time (2015) POV:

Vanya stood beside her Bhabhi's bed, clutching little Yashraj tightly to her chest. Fear and worry were etched across her face as she watched the doctor checking her Bhabhi's pulse, who had fainted not long ago.

The room was filled with a tense silence, broken only by the soft beeping of the medical equipment. Her heart raced with anxiety, every second feeling like an eternity. Just then, the front door opened with a creak.

Vanya's father rushed in, his face lined with concern and eyes searching for answers. He had come as soon as he got a call from Vanya about Swanti unwellness. The sight of his daughter and the unconscious daughter-in-law brought a wave of fear and helplessness over him, but he tried to remain composed in front of the doctor and Yuvraj who is still not able to understand what happened to his mother.

Doctor injected sedative in Swati's hand and told Vanya and her dad that she needs to rest. She is not taking care of herself for a while now, her body is weakened by stress, anxiety and less nutrition. The Doctor prescribed them few medicines for Swati's fast recovery.Vanya hummed and her father still couldn't understand why she is unwell.

Vanya's father escorted the doctor out of the house, seeking privacy to discuss the situation further. He then called Vanya over to understand what was happening and to provide an update.

Inside, Vanya gently placed Yashraj next to his mother, ensuring he was comfortable. "Stay with her," Vanya instructed Yashraj softly. "If she moves or shows any signs of uneasiness, call Bua( Father's sister) immediately.

Yashraj hummed and sat next to his mother .Vanya gave his favourite toy and gently placed her hand over his head .She then came out of Swati's room after closing the door ,to stop any loud voices entering inside.

Vanya's father grabbed her hand aggressively, his grip tight and unyielding, and pulled her towards his room with hurried, forceful steps. Vanya stumbled slightly, trying to keep up with his pace. The tension in the air was palpable.

Once they reached the room, he released her hand with a sharp jerk, causing her to step back unsteadily."What did you do to her?" he demanded, his voice a mix of anger and concern. "Why isn't she being taken care of properly?" His eyes bore into hers, searching for answers. Vanya could feel the weight of his frustration and worry pressing down on her

Vanya felt a surge of anger rise within her. Without saying a word, she turned on her heel and started heading out of the room. Her father, seething with frustration, grabbed her arm again, stopping her in her tracks."You're not leaving until you answer my questions!" he shouted, his voice trembling with rage. "What did you do to her? Why isn't she being taken care of properly?"Vanya felt the words she had held back for so long bubbling up inside her, ready to burst out.

After 23 years, she could no longer bear the blame for everything that went wrong in the house. She wanted to scream at him, to make him understand the weight of his accusations."Wait here," she finally said through gritted teeth, her voice barely controlled. "I'll give you your answer."

She pulled her arm free and walked briskly to the living room. Her heart pounded in her chest as she grabbed the official letter from the Singhania's which she threw earlier in anger in air. The very letter from THE REPUTED SINGHANIA that her father had once held in high regard. With a forceful motion, she threw the letter at his feet."Here is your answer," she said, her voice shaking with emotion.

"The Singhania family, who you were so proud to serve as a bodyguard, has declared that their son is dead, labeled as a traitor. They can't even recover his body. After 23 years, not everything wrong in this house is my fault."The room fell silent as her father stared at the letter, the gravity of her words sinking in.

Vanya's father sat on the bed ,eyes filled with tears as he picked up the letter. He began to read each word, his hands trembling. The anger in his eyes slowly faded, replaced by a profound sadness and regret. The room fell silent as he absorbed the weight of the words .

Vanya looked at her father's trembling fingers which was holding the letter. She sat next to him and took the letter from his hand.
She heard when he murmured in quavering voice ," Mera beta marra nahi hai nahi wo gaddar hai"(My son neither died nor he is a traitor).

Vanya saw his father shaken body ,for the first time in her life she placed her hand on his shoulder and said to,"Mujhe pta hai papa, ek paper ka tukda thodi bhaiya ke mehanat aur imandari ko dafna dega jo unhone Singhania ko diya hai pichle panch saal se"(I know dad, this piece of paper can never bury the hardwork and honesty which brother gave to those Singhania for last 5yrs).

Vanya's father hold Vanya hand which was placed on on his shoulder and asked," What should we do now, Should I go and talk to Vikram Singhania,I am sure he has not forgotten me.He sure will listen to me".

Vanya felt rage in her heart but she controlled her tone as it was her first time she saw her father in a fragile state, she said after taking the letter from her father's hand," I can see clearly in this letter, they don't care about our emotions and our state of condition after knowing that a family member died of Sharma's family and instead of feeling sad about the missing body ,it is raising more affirmation that bhaiya is the traitor".

Vanya stood from the bed and her father was still looking at the letter which she was holding in her hand. She folded the letter and told her father,"Nothing has happened to your son,I know my brother. He is the man behind my training.I have seen him getting trained, it'll take lot of manpower to take my bhaiya down .And the word which Singhania wrote TRAITOR, that I know bhaiya will choose death over backstabbing."

After assuring her father that bhaiya hadn't done anything wrong, Vanya avoided making any eye contact. Inside, she was trembling, battling her own emotions. Taking a deep breath, she turned to leave his room, her voice steady despite her inner turmoil."I'm going to bring you some lunch and then I'll go out to get bhabhi medicine," she said, trying to keep her tone calm. "Just take care of yourself and Swati until I get back."

With that, she stepped out of the room, her heart racing as she closed the door behind her, desperate to find a moment of peace amidst the chaos. After giving her father lunch she went to her Bhabhi's room. Vanya saw Yashraj felt asleep holding his toy in one hand and her mother's finger in other hand.

Vanya closed the curtains of the rooms , making sure the room no aggressive rays of sun disturb them. She picked the prescription placed on a table in the room which the doctor prescribed earlier ,then came out of the room.

Vanya came inside her room and threw the Singhania's letter inside her vanity table. She started getting dressed with turmoil of emotions and infinite unanswered questions. Her thoughts got interrupted when her phone rang .She saw a unknown number which was not not matching with earlier number. Vanya picked the call with a heavy sigh.

Vanya:Hello

Unknown voice: Come out if you want answers .

Vanya: Who are yo________
