KNOCK.....KNOCKK
The sound was faint at first, like some annoying fly buzzing in the back of my mind. I shifted under the covers, ignoring it.

KNOOOOOOCK.....KNOOOOOOCKK
It grew louder, nagging like an impatient alarm that I wanted to hit snooze on forever. JUST LET ME SLEEP.....
BAAAAANNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGG
"Ahhh!" I shot upright as if I'd been catapulted. Next thing I knew, I have fallen on the floor-arms flailing, blanket wrapped around me like some cocoon. Gravity took its sweet revenge with a grand thud.
"Uuugghhhh Seriously?!" I groaned, tangled like a chocolate in a wrapper ,still half-asleep, and now half-draped next to my bed on the floor . Whoever was on the other side of that door... was officially on my enemy list.
I stood up, disentangling myself from the blanket with all the grace of a half-asleep zombie. Grabbing my dupatta from the side table in frustration, I stormed to the door, ready to unleash my annoyance on whoever dared to disturb my sleep at this ungodly hour.
But the words died in my throat as I swung the door open. Standing there wasn't just anyone-it was him. None other than Dr. Aarav Singhania, a.k.a. my so-called "life savior" (his words, not mine), and the self-proclaimed thorn in my life.
I clutched the door, still half-awake, silently praying this wouldn't take long. Aarav was glaring at me, and I was more than happy to return the look. We stood there for a good few seconds, practically growling at each other, until a voice interrupted.
"Seriously, Bhai and Bhabhi, you two should start a survival show with the theme 'Enemies Under One Roof,'" Avni said, popping up behind Aarav.
Before I could get a word in, Aarav turned to her and shot back, "Change the name to -Laziest Daughter-in-law"
My half-asleep brain fully snapped awake at that. "Did you just call me lazy?" I glared at him, daring him to say it again.
He looked back at me, unfazed. "Yes. Who else sleeps so deeply they can't hear 15 minutes of continuous knocking?"
