As Yash entered the dimly lit hospital room, his gaze softened at the sight of Vanya lying unconscious on the bed, her serene face framed by her dark, flowing hair. The room was filled with the soft hum of medical monitors, their rhythmic beeps echoing the fragile state of her life. Tubes ,IV lines,EMCO are connected to her, delivering the fluids and medications she needed, while her pale hand rested motionless on the crisp white sheets
As Aarav stood beside Vanya, intently examining her medical reports with the nurses, the sudden creak of the door broke his concentration. He turned, and his eyes widened at the sight of Yash entering, soaked to the skin, water dripping from his pajama and reddened eyes. The nurses exchanged glances, taken aback by Yash's drenched and disheveled appearance. Sensing the tension, Aarav quickly composed himself and instructed, "You all can go now. I'll join in a few minutes." The medical staff nodded, understanding the weight in Aarav's voice, and exited the room quietly.
Yash approached Vanya's bedside, holding a bowl with ayurvedic paste he received from the temple priest. Without waiting, he moved to her left side and, with trembling hands, prepared to apply the paste to her pulse points. Aarav observed him in confusion, but when he realized Yash's intention, he immediately raised his voice, firm and urgent, "STOP! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"
Yash looked at Aarav, desperation etched on his face, his voice barely above a whisper. "They said... this will cure her." Aarav's expression hardened, frustration mingling with concern as he snapped, "Yash! Who told you that? Do you even understand what you're doing? She's connected to every advanced machine available to help her recover!"
Tears slipped down Yash's face as he clung to a sliver of hope. "But... the priest in the temple said this paste would cure her." Aarav's heart softened, seeing his brother's vulnerability. He reached out, gently taking the paste from Yash's hand. "You got this from the temple?" Yash nodded, his eyes pleading.
Aarav sighed, his voice gentler now, "If you believe this might help, I won't stop you. But let me first check it under a microscope to make sure it's safe, free from any harmful microbes." Yash gave a silent nod, his gaze shifting back to Vanya as he brushed a tender hand over her head.
Before leaving with the paste, Aarav placed a reassuring hand on Yash's shoulder and said, "I left clean clothes in the cupboard for you. I know you won't leave anytime soon, but at least change. Clean clothes and calm surroundings can help her heal faster." Aarav exited, leaving his brother alone in the quiet room.
Yash took a deep breath, grateful for Aarav's understanding. He retrieved the fresh clothes, stepped into the bathroom to dry off and change, then returned to Vanya's side. Sitting down, he clasped her hand in his, gently murmuring the mantras she wrote on the letter , his bare feet grounding him as he chanted softly, pouring all his hope and love into every whispered word.
