As all 3 of them started walking towards the hall ,Noor noticed the tension in Vanya’s step. Noor spoke up, hoping to lighten the mood. “You know, if I had known you were a woman back during physical strength test, I would’ve knocked Raj out for treating you like that.”
Vanya smiled softly. “It’s okay. It wasn’t a serious injury.”
“Raj? Yash Bhaiya’s assistant’s brother?” Avni piped up, her curiosity piqued.
“Yeah, him,” Noor replied with an eye roll .
Avni raised an eyebrow. “Well, I haven’t seen him around since Yash Bhaiya fired his sister from the assistant position.”
Noor’s eyes widened in surprise. “Yash Bhaiya rarely fires anyone.”
Avni shot a knowing glance at Vanya, her eyes twinkling with mischief. “Hmnn, something big definitely happened in Yash Bhaiya’s life.”
Vanya’s cheeks flushed a soft pink as Avni’s teasing reminded her of the night Yash had tended to her wounds, his touch so gentle despite the storm between them.
As they approached the grand hall, the sound of camera flashes, media and photographers were everywhere, their lenses capturing every movement, every smile. Vanya’s heart skipped a beat at the sheer attention, and she could sense Noor’s was also feeling uneasy like her.
“Just smile,” Avni whispered, her voice low and steady. “Fake it for these parasites. ”
The media frenzy didn’t faze Avni, but Vanya’s discomfort grew with each step. They weren’t just walking into the party .
Suddenly, a commotion erupted from the far end of the hall. The media shifted, cameras clicking faster as a new buzz spread through the crowd. Vanya’s brow furrowed, unsure of what was happening.
“What’s going on?” Noor whispered, glancing at Avni.
Avni smirked, leaning in with a mischievous grin. “I may have forgotten to mention…uuhhhhhmmm something ".
Noor turned her head towards Avni as they walked into the party hall. "Whaaattt did you forget to mention?" she asked, her voice laced with suspicion.Vanya, trailing behind them, kept her eyes scanning the room, noticing how every guest turned to stare, their expressions full of curiosity. She could hear the conversation between Noor and Avni but couldn’t shake the feeling of being watched.
Avni murmured just loud enough for Noor and Vanya to hear, "Well... only Singhania’s daughter-in-laws is allowed to wear a saree to the party. The dress code was strictly gowns and suits."
Vanya’s jaw dropped. "WHAAAATTT?!" Her voice echoed through the hall, drawing attention from every corner.
Yash and the rest of the Singhania family, standing on the stage, immediately turned their heads towards loud voice source. Even Ishaan, Reyansh, and Vivaan, who had been casually drinking at the bar, stopped mid-sip when they heard Vanya's outburst.
Frozen in place, Vanya felt the weight of every gaze locking onto her. The nerves tightened in her chest as if the whole room had wrapped her in a suffocating cocoon of judgment. Noor and Avni turned to her, sensing her discomfort.
Noor whispered, "This Avni idiot... I knew I shouldn't have trusted her. Leave it, Vanya. Just relax."
Avni, however, was grinning, clearly enjoying herself. "Just relax, Bhabhi."
Vanya’s eyes flashed with irritation, about to retort, but before she could snap back, Aarav appeared beside Avni, his face tight with frustration. "Let's go to the stage. Everyone’s waiting for you," he said, his tone sharp as he shot an angry glare at Vanya. Noor noticed Aarav's glare.
Noor squeezed Vanya’s hand in solidarity, offering silent support, and returned Aarav's glare with a challenging look that made him shift uncomfortably. In frustration, he tugged Avni away from Vanya and Noor, making space between them.
Yash, now able to see Vanya clearly after Aarav and Avni moved, caught sight of her in the saree. His eyes flicked down to his shoes, a smirk playing on his lips as he murmured under his breath, "Fucking Hellfire."
Noor tugged Vanya’s hand, pulling her closer to the stage as the atmosphere in the room shifted. SAVITRIji took the microphone in hand, her voice commanding attention. "Everyone, please shift your attention towards the stage as we gather to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Yash and Tanya’s engagement."
The crowd fell silent, and as Savitriji continued speaking about Tanya's family and their loyalty to the Singhanias and how their business partners turned into their In-laws, her gaze drifted toward Noor and Vanya. Her eyes lingered for a second longer on Noor, her disapproval evident in the way she subtly rolled her eyes at Noor’s attire.
But when her eyes landed on Vanya, wrapped in a saree, something changed. The usually poised matriarch faltered, her words catching in her throat. It was as though seeing Vanya dressed in something that directly defied her strict dress code was an open challenge, one she hadn’t anticipated.Ishaan, Vivaan, and Reyansh, still seated at the bar, couldn’t help but smirk. They exchanged amused glances, recognizing the rare moment when Savitri ji, the formidable dragon of the Singhania family, was caught off guard.
Yash, standing silently on stage, noticed the shift in the room. His eyes flicked towards the bar counter, where his friends sat, wine glasses raised in a silent toast. It was a cheeky salute to Vanya, the woman who had unintentionally done what no one else had—make Savitriji fumble.
Yash’s lips curled into a faint smile as he shook his head, amused by the moment. Despite the tension swirling around him, he couldn’t help but appreciate the quiet chaos that Vanya had sparked just by being herself.
