It was around 10:00 PM when Siya woke up, her head hurting from a long, emotional day. She realized she had slept through the entire day. The room was dim, and she still felt very sad.Siya picked up her phone and saw a missed call from Karthik. She called him back. When he answered, his familiar, soothing voice calmed her.
"Hey, Karthik," Siya said softly.
"Siya, are you okay? I've been worried." Karthik said with concern.
"I'm just exhausted. Today was tough. Everything feels like it's falling apart."
"I know it's hard, but you're not alone. I'm always here for you." Karthik reassured her.
Siya hummed in response.
"Honestly, I can't believe Saumya did this. People say need makes a person do many things. What she did was very wrong, especially to you."
"Let's not talk about it,"
"Since it happened, I keep thinking about it," Karthik said.
"What?"
"I believe Saumya 's betrayal is unforgivable. But her friendship with you was true. She cared for you, Siya."
Siya stayed silent.
She agreed that Saumya truly thought of her as a friend.
"What are you trying to say?" Siya asked.
"I just want to say that Saumya truly deserves punishment, but should it be so severe? Should her brother suffer along with her? Don't you think the punishment given by Arjun sir is too much?"
Karthik asked with concern.
"But what Arjun did wasn't wrong. If I were him, I'd probably do the same." She replied with a feeling of turmoil.
"No, you wouldn't. I know you. You're also thinking about what will happen to her brother," he replied.
Siya felt relieved at Karthik's words.
"You're right. Her brother is in a tough spot. Maybe the punishment is too extreme. But then I remember what Soumya did." She said, feeling confused.
Karthik's voice was reassuring.
"Siya, think calmly. Just because someone wrongs us doesn't mean we should wrong them. Don't forget your nature."
"You are right, Karthik. What she did was wrong, but I won't go wrong with her. God will punish her." Siya said, feeling better.
"You're right."
"Thank you for talking to me, Karthik. It helped. I'll talk to Arjun about this. OK, good night."
After ending the call, Siya felt a bit more at ease. She decided to talk to Arjun.
She took her night dress out of the closet and headed to the bathroom to take a bath. She got ready quickly after taking a bath.
Someone knocked on her door. It was Mira Aunty with a warm smile.
"Ma'am, I brought dinner for you. Eat it, you haven't eaten since morning," she said.
Siya smiled.
"Thank you, Aunty, but I don't feel like eating."
"Not in the mood? What happened to both of you today?" Mira asked.
"Both?" Siya frowned.
"Arjun sir hasn't eaten all day either. I asked him about food, and he refused. I thought you might be hungry." Mira said, holding a covered dish.
