The party was in full swing, with guests mingling, enjoying the food and drinks, and the joyful hum of conversation filling the air. Laughter and music mixed together as people celebrated, making the backyard feel alive and vibrant. Matsu had excused himself from the festivities, seeking a moment of solitude in the house.

As he reemerged from the house, a hush fell over the gathering. Matsu was holding someone's hand, and as they stepped into view, the crowd's collective gasp was audible. Calie, Marie, and Yumiko, who had been enjoying the celebration, were frozen in shock, their glasses slipping from their hands and shattering on the ground.

Matsu's smile was both radiant and bittersweet as he looked around at the astonished faces. "I pulled a few celestial strings," he said, his voice filled with a mix of joy and reverence. "We have Peony back with us for half an hour."

Calie and Marie, tears welling in their eyes, rushed forward. "How? How did this happen?" Marie asked, her voice trembling with a mix of disbelief and hope.

Matsu, his own emotions bubbling just beneath the surface, promised he would explain later. For now, he wanted them to experience this precious moment. Peony, looking around with wide, curious eyes, spotted her mamas and bolted towards them.

"Mommy! Mama!" Peony cried out, her voice a sweet melody that resonated through the yard.

Calie and Marie dropped to their knees, tears streaming down their faces as they embraced their daughter. "We missed you so much, Peony," Calie choked out, her voice cracking with emotion.

Marie, equally overcome, whispered through her sobs, "We've missed you every day."

Peony hugged them tightly, her small arms wrapped around their necks. "I missed you too! I love you both so much."

Matsu, his heart swelling with a complex mix of emotions, stepped back slightly. He looked at the group, still gathered in stunned silence, and said, "We'll have five minutes to talk with her before I introduce her to everyone. I want her to meet our friends and family."

The trio, along with Yumiko and Gramps, guided Peony to a quiet corner of the backyard, away from the main group but still close enough to feel the party's warmth. They settled onto a comfortable bench beneath a large tree, its branches providing a canopy of shade.

Peony looked up at them, her eyes filled with wonder and a hint of confusion. "Are we having a party?" she asked, her voice soft and innocent.

Matsu gently stroked her hair, trying to hold back his own tears. "Yes, Peony. We're celebrating you. We wanted to make sure you knew how much we love you and how important you are to us."

Calie and Marie, their emotions settling into a bittersweet calm, began sharing stories with Peony about the party and the people who were there to celebrate her. They told her about the fun games, the food, and the friends who were excited to meet her.

Yumiko and Gramps joined in, offering their own memories and stories about Peony. The brief reunion was filled with a profound sense of love and gratitude. Despite the time constraint, every moment was cherished, every word a testament to the depth of their feelings for Peony.

As the five minutes drew to a close, Matsu, Calie, and Marie knew it was time to let Peony meet the rest of the guests. They gently guided her back towards the party, holding her hand tightly. Matsu's heart ached with the knowledge that their time together was limited, but he was determined to make every second count.

With a deep breath, Matsu prepared to introduce Peony to the people who had come together to honor her and support his family through their grief.

The backyard was filled with a palpable sense of anticipation and wonder as Matsu, Calie, and Marie guided Peony through the crowd. Each introduction was a precious moment, a chance to reconnect with the little girl who had touched their lives so profoundly.
