Matsu sat at his desk, his focus sharp as he read over a detailed report on his computer screen. The room was quiet, save for the soft sound of the mouse clicking as he scrolled through the document. His left hand held Marie's, their fingers interlaced, while Calie leaned against his right arm, her eyes closed as she rested against him. Despite the weight of his responsibilities, the comforting presence of Calie and Marie made the task a bit easier to bear.
As Matsu continued reading, Marie's eyes drifted to the screen, catching sight of something that piqued her interest. She tilted her head slightly, curiosity evident in her gaze.
"Hey, Matsu," Marie began, her voice breaking the comfortable silence. "What's this about a new weapon development? Looks like something big."
Matsu paused his scrolling and glanced at the section Marie had pointed out. He took a moment to gather his thoughts before replying, his voice calm but tinged with the weight of his responsibilities.
"Yeah, that's one of the larger projects we're working on right now," Matsu explained, his eyes scanning the details on the screen. "It's an aura-based technology that we've been developing for a while. The idea is to create a weapon that can harness and amplify the user's aura in a controlled and precise manner. It could potentially change the way battles are fought, especially for those who can utilize aura effectively."
Marie listened intently, her analytical mind already thinking of the implications. "That sounds... impressive, but also a bit risky. Aura is such a personal and variable thing. How do you plan to control it in a weapon?"
Matsu nodded, appreciating her insight. "That's exactly the challenge we're facing. The tech team has been working on stabilizing the aura amplification so it doesn't overwhelm the user or the weapon itself. It's a delicate balance, and we're still in the testing phase. But if we get it right, it could be revolutionary. We're also considering the commercial side of things—selling it once we're confident it's safe and effective."
Calie, who had been listening quietly with her eyes still closed, opened them and looked up at Matsu. "So, this could be a pretty big deal, huh? Like, something that could really make a difference in the defense industry."
Matsu smiled at her, his expression softening. "Yeah, it could be. But we're taking it one step at a time. I don't want to rush anything, especially when it comes to something as volatile as aura manipulation."
Marie squeezed his hand gently, her expression thoughtful. "That makes sense. It's smart to be cautious, especially with something so new. But if anyone can pull it off, it's you and your team."
Matsu chuckled softly, the tension from earlier conversations easing away in the warmth of the moment. "Thanks, Marie. I have a lot of faith in my team. They've been working tirelessly on this, and I'm proud of what we've accomplished so far."
Calie grinned and playfully nudged Matsu's arm. "Well, just make sure you don't blow anything up, okay? We kind of like having you in one piece."
Matsu laughed, the sound lightening the atmosphere even more. "I'll do my best to avoid any explosions, I promise."
The three of them shared a comfortable silence for a few moments, Matsu continuing to read over the report with Marie occasionally chiming in with questions or suggestions. Calie remained cozied up against him, content in the warmth of their togetherness.
Eventually, Matsu finished reading the document and closed it, leaning back in his chair with a sigh of satisfaction. "Alright, that's enough work for now. How about we take a little break? I could use some fresh air, and I'm sure you two wouldn't mind stretching your legs a bit."
