After Matsu dropped off Calie and Marie at their place, he headed toward Kagayaki Industries, ready to slip back into his role as the head of the company. His time away had been refreshing, but now it was time to get back to work. The towering, sleek glass structure of Kagayaki's headquarters loomed in the distance, gleaming in the afternoon sun. Matsu parked in his usual spot in the underground garage and made his way into the building.

As he walked through the spacious, modern lobby, the staff greeted him with warm smiles and respectful nods. Matsu's return had been eagerly anticipated. He had a natural ease about him, but there was no mistaking his presence; he was the CEO, the one who kept the vast empire of Kagayaki Industries running like a well-oiled machine.

The elevator ride to the top floor was quiet, giving him a brief moment to collect his thoughts before diving into work. He knew the first order of business was seeing Kenzo, his father's trusted right-hand man, who had stepped in as temporary CEO during Matsu's absence. Kenzo had been a stabilizing force for the company, ensuring that operations continued smoothly, but Matsu was eager to officially relieve him of the responsibility.

The elevator doors opened to the executive floor, where the hum of productivity was palpable. Matsu stepped out, his eyes scanning the familiar surroundings before heading toward Kenzo's office. When he arrived, Kenzo was seated behind his desk, reviewing some reports. Despite his age, Kenzo looked sharp and focused, his hair neatly combed and his suit pressed to perfection.

Kenzo looked up and smiled as Matsu entered. "Matsu! It's good to see you back in the building."

Matsu returned the smile, offering a firm handshake. "Good to be back, Kenzo. Thanks for holding down the fort while I was away."

Kenzo waved a hand dismissively, though a touch of relief flashed in his eyes. "It was my pleasure. But I'll admit, it's nice to hand the reins back to you. There's a certain energy only you bring to this place."

Matsu chuckled. "I appreciate that. But seriously, how are things? Give me the rundown—what's happened since I've been gone?"

Kenzo stood and gestured toward the large window overlooking the city. "Walk with me," he said. Matsu followed, and as they looked out over the skyline, Kenzo began to fill him in on the latest developments at Kagayaki.

"Overall, the company is doing well," Kenzo started. "We've expanded our research initiatives, especially in renewable energy and biotechnology. Those sectors have seen steady growth, and the team has been making significant progress on the fusion energy project. But there are a few things we need to address."

He pulled out a tablet and brought up a few key reports. "First, there's been some turbulence in our overseas operations. A couple of contracts in the Themean division are up for renegotiation, and there's some tension there. We're also seeing increased competition from a few up-and-coming tech firms, particularly in AI development."

Matsu listened carefully, nodding as he processed the information. "I'll need to get up to speed on those contracts and see where we stand. As for the competition, we'll take a close look at what they're doing and stay ahead of the curve. I'll meet with R&D later this week to see how we can leverage our innovations in AI."

Kenzo continued. "Another thing—you might have heard about the shift in the labor market. There's been a wave of younger talent entering the workforce, and while that's great for us in terms of fresh ideas, we've also seen a bit of tension between the newer employees and some of the veterans. We've tried to address it with team-building initiatives, but I think it'll require more than just a few workshops."

Matsu sighed slightly but remained calm. "I'll speak to HR and the department heads. We need to make sure we foster collaboration between the generations. The last thing we want is division within the company. Maybe we can set up mentorship programs—pair up the new hires with experienced employees to encourage knowledge sharing."
