Here's a general timeline so you know the events that lead up to this point:
-the major point of divergence takes place near the end of revenge of the sith, anakin doesn't intervene when mace windu kills sidious, thus preventing order 66 from ever happening
-grevious is killed as normal, and the 332nd return from mandalore without issue.
-while a jedi murdering the Chancellor does damage the reputation of the order, forcing windu to leave the council, the reveal of palpatines plan softens the blow, and anakin takes windus place on the jedi council.
-an emergency election is held, resulting in padme amidala being voted into the Chancellorship.
-the next few months are spent limiting the power of the corporations that backed the seperatists, and slowly grinding down any seperatist holdouts.
-around 3 months after the death of palpatine, Republic intelligence learns of a seperatist holdout on the world of remnant. This is brought to the galactic Senate, which brings us to the beginning of the story.
