A few days later, the news that a coup had occurred in atlas had erupted and spread across remnant like wildfire.

Heydrich and amethyst made a public announcement, not just to atlas, but the world. They claimed ironwood and his 'corrupt bureaucracy' deposed, and claimed the formation of the 'atlesian empire'. Atlas had soon become nothing more than a military dictatorship, with amethyst acting as head of state while heydrich oversaw military matters. They also made their anti-faunus stance clear, and had been continuously adding more and more laws discriminating against faunus: preventing them from working in government jobs, allowing company heads to just outright not pay faunus employees, and making the schnee dust company and government-funded corporation, making their unethical use of faunus labor completely Legal.

They also sent threats to Vale, mistral, and menagerie, ordering them to disband all military forces or be on the receiving end of an invasion, and had even demanded that the Republic leave the planet completely. Similar threats were sent by the S.D.C to violette dust industries, Demanding the return of all former schnee property within vacuan borders, now backed by the new atlesian government.

Now, ironwood had called representatives of the councils, the huntsmen academies, the Republic occupation force and others to the the island of vytal, where he hoped to discuss what to do about the situation

The representatives, including the likes of ironwood, ozpin and tarkin, all sat within the meeting room of the vytal administration building, the same building used to discuss the terms of the treaty that ended the great war. Ironwood was trying to rally the kingdom's against the atlesian empire.

"they were not bluffing when they said they would invade if you refuse." ironwood told the representatives. "this new government wants nothing more than to be the sole military force on remnant, and they will not stop until they achieve that goal. However, they still yet powerful enough to reinforce this. If we strike together, we can stop them before they even have the chance."

"and what if we waited?" the valean representative asked. "what if we recognise this government as legitimate? As you said, they are not yet strong enough to reinforce their claims, so why don't we wait?"

"because they've got something that we cannot allow to continue." ironwood replied. "before the coup, I had engineers work on three prototype, space-worthy ships. When the coup occurred, I ordered them either evacuated or scuttled. The cerebus-class dreadnought was able to flee to argus, and the solitas-class cruiser was scuttled. However, the last ship was captured by the pathfinders. Unfortunately, that one was the most powerful."

A hologram then appeared above the table, displaying the largest ship the people of remnant had ever seen. It looked to be only half the size of a venator, but it still outclassed anything the people of remnant had built themselves.

"this is the emperor-class battleship." ironwood informed the representatives. "it was midway through production when the pathfinders seized it. Rough estimates place it's completion date around the end of the month. We cannot allow that to happen."

This seemingly got most people on board. Vale and mistral announced their support, and while menagerie didn't say they would join the operation, they would allow volunteers to join. The only kingdom who didn't was vacuo, but they were still in the process of forming their military in the first place.

However, what ironwood was truly banking on was the aid of the Republic. While the kingdom's would play a crucial role in his plan, he needed the Republic's manpower if he had any chance of it succeeding. Finally, tarkin gave his answer.

"the Republic will aid you in your mission general." the admiral stated, causing tarkin to sigh in relief. "however, due to our forces being stretched thin across remnant, we can only supply you with a three quarters worth of a division."

This caused ironwood to panic again. However, both tarkin and the true mandalorian representatives had ideas.

"I will send Republic intelligence agents into atlas to see if anyone would be willing to help from within. I will also reach out to some of my contacts outside of The Republic to see if they can provide manpower." tarkin stated.

"and I still have friends in the mandalorian clans." kodo, head of the true mandalorians mentioned. "I might be able to convince them to help."

"very well then." ironwood replied. "we will meet again in two weeks to gather an assessment on our combined forces and go over the plan. Meeting adjourned."

With that, the representatives left, and both tarkin and kodo immediately got to work...
