Ironwood looked out of his office window into the city of atlas below, a pair of atlesian marines flaking him. Currently, he was thinking about remnants current political situation.
Atlas may have remained the strongest military power on remnant, it was clear it would never be strong enough to compete with any galactic powers head on. However, he also noticed the other kingdoms had been forming their own military forces. The biggest example was the menagerie defence force, but mistral had also been forming its own military, in the form of the mistral army. While currently using uniforms last seen during the faunus war, they were nonetheless a rapidly growing power.
To ironwood, this was a good thing. Without the other kingdoms turning to atlas for defence, he was able to focus his forces to other places, such as limiting The power of the S.D.C and crushing remaining white fang radicals.
However, not everyone in atlas shared his viewpoint. In particular, a powerful member of the atlas military. A man by the name of eisen heydrich.
Heydrich had been a rival of James since they were both in atlas academy, and save for ironwood and winter, was the most influential member of the atlesian military. While James sought to advance the technological aspect of warfare, eisen wanted to improve the human element, putting patriotism and personal skill above all else.
While ironwood didn't see this as a totally bad thing, and had even taken inspiration from it when forming the atlesian marines, he already knew what eisens intentions were: to make atlas the sole wielder of military force in remnant. It had become clear when the galactic Republic arrived, and even more clear when the menagerie defence force was formed: he kept talking about how it was a threat to national security, and that they should be forced to disarm.
Heydrich was also the leader of the pathfinders, a paramilitary unit officially under the command of the atlas military. They were responsible for the security and defence of atlas itself, but they were just as often sent Into mantle, where they clashed with rioters
Currently, however, heydrich was the least of ironwoods concerns, as his anti-republic stance had largely alienated him from most of remnants population, and thus he lacked proper support.
As of now, ironwood was simply going over and approving new designs for items to be used by the atlesian military. The first of these was a new type of airship: the AX-2 model dropship. Designed with a pair of rotary blades on its top to provide movement in the air, these transports were designed to escort troops to and out of combat zones, effectively serving as cheaper versions of the bullhead. They could also be used to transport vehichles at the cost of losing the ability to transport people
The second proposal was a design for a new 'bio-suit' to be used by paladin pilots. After the attack on Vale, it was decided that paladins were too dangerous to be controlled by A.I, and thus were redesigned to utilise human pilots. These new suits would allow greater interface between the pilot and the suit itself
The final proposal was a new design for atlesian pilot uniforms. The model proposed wasn't too different from the one currently in use. This one simply removed the kevlar vest, replacing it with an oxygen tank, and changed the helmet, making it more streamlined and giving it red markings
All of these projects were approved of by ironwood... Save for the flight suit, which james belived to be too intimidating, especially for a pilot uniform.
With those dealt with and out of the way, ironwood could move onto his main project... Dismantling the schnee dust companies influence...

Meanwhile, in the schnee dust company headquaters in Central atlas, jaques schnee was in discussion with colonel heydrich, a pair of pathfinders flanking the colonel.
"so, let me get this straight, schnee." the colonel beckoned. "you're willing to provide support for my future plans..."
"as long as James and those fools on the atlas council have been dealt with." jaques finished.
"very well then. However, keep in mind neither of us are politicians. If we were to successfully do this, we need someone who's good in a political battle just as much as we are in military and corporate ones."
Jaques chuckled at this statement.
"I think I have just the one..."
