Tarkin sat directly across from ozpin, mug of coffee in hand, as good witch looked on with a look of disapproval. To ozpins left stood general ironwood of the atlesian military, and to his right was a man named qrow... Who the admiral could best describe as 'a drunk who stumbled into ozpins office'.

Tarkin had not wanted these two to attend this meeting, but ozpin, stating that they were part of his inner circle, had personally requested they attend.

"so, admiral" ozpin stared, placing his mug on the table. "I belive explanations are in order."

"very well." the admiral replied. "I am an admiral of the grand army of the republic, the military arm of the galactic Republic. We are a intergalactic democratic state with control over a vast amount of the galaxy."

To say everyone in the room was stunned would be an understatement.

"if this is true..." qrow said, taking a swig of his flask. "how come we've never heard of it."

"that is because remnant lies on the galactic fringe leading to the unknown regions, and area of the galaxy yet to be properly mapped."

Qrow backed down at this response.

"as I was saying." tarkin continued. "three years ago, a war broke out between the Republic and a seperatist movement calling itself the confederacy of independent systems. While these seperatists were defeated, we have spent the last few months tracking down and eliminating any loyalist holdouts, and-"

"and you believe that one of these holdouts is here on remnant." ozpin finished. "so what exactly is your goal here?"

"simply put, we intend to occupy the planet until the holdouts is found and destroyed. We will establish bases and work with the atlas military to maintain order, and once the holdouts is dealt with, we will leave the planet."

"and what exactly makes you think the atlas military isn't capable of dealing with this on its own." ironwood butted in.

"make no mistake general, I do not doubt the atlesian militaries capabilities." tarkin commented. "my men have had many positive things to say about your troops. However, the seperatists are not your typical army. They rely on mostly automated units to cut down enemies, and while I'm sure you could repel them without issue, I doubt you have the capabilities to destroy them completely."

While ironwood didn't like the idea of someone underestimating his army, he atleast took a small bit of pride that soldiers who fought in a galaxy-spanning war were seeing the value of his men.

"another issue, ozpin. During the attack on Vale, my men apprehended a woman attempted to break into what was seemingly a vault within your academy. Upon investigation, we discovered a woman, seemingly in a coma."

"yes, amber." ozpin stated. "she is a close associate of mine with incredible power. She was morally wounded in a mission and I tried to ensure her safety."

"rest assured, you won't have to worry about that." tarkin replied. "from this point, we will leave a regiment of clone troopers by her side to ensure she doesn't fall into the wrong hands."

This gave ozpin a bit of relief. However, he realised he had to be cautious: if they ever found out his true objectives, their was a very good chance they wouldn't be so kind.

"well, I believe that is all I have to say, so I will be taking my leave." tarkin stated, getting up from his seat and preparing to leave the room before stopping in his tracks.

"before I forget, once this occupation is over, we will give remnant the option of becoming a member of the Republic. So please, consider that for a bit."

With that, he left, leaving ozpin and his inner circle slightly dumbstruck.

"well" qrow said, taking another drink. "that was interesting."

"ozpin." glynda said, looking towards the headmaster. "are you sure we can trust his word?"

"I'm not sure glynda." ozpin said. "but for now, we need to play along. And If this galactic Republic turns out to be an ally... All the better..."
