Meanwhile, in northern mistral, a clone legion marches towards its destination.

After the attack on Vale, the kingdom of mistral gladly welcomed the grand army of the republic, who quickly occupied all major cities. The criminals of the capitals lower levels were brought to heel, with most fleeing to the city of kuchinasi, which was undergoing a slightly different occupation.

Currently, the clone legion known as the mistral legion was marching towards the walled-off city of argus. While it was already garrisoned by atlas, ironwood had given his approval for a joint-occupation.

However, when the clones emerged on the outskirts of the city, they were not met with open arms.

Instead, what they were met with was the entire atlas garrison stationed outside the wall, with regular infantry and shock trooper units lined up alongside massive paladins

At the front of the formation, the clones could make out what looked to be an atlesian knight with the symbol of the atlas military on its chest. Suddenly, its visor began to glow a bright blue, and a voice began speaking through it.

"this is colonel Caroline cordovin, commander of the atlesian garrison stationed in argus!" the automaton acting as a speaker stated. "you are forbidden from stepping foot within this city! Any attempts to do so will result in immediate retalitory action!"

To say the clones were stunned would be an understatement. They had expected some parts of the atlesian military to not like them, but they never expected it to go this far. Unfortunately, they had no way of contacting their superiors to tell them of the situation, so they would just have to wait until someone caught wind.

Fortunately, that wouldn't be very long...

Within the argus military base, cordovin was sitting at her desk, sipping her coffee, when she suddenly got a call on her scroll from general ironwood

Within the argus military base, cordovin was sitting at her desk, sipping her coffee, when she suddenly got a call on her scroll from general ironwood. Curious, she approved the call, only to be met with James yelling at her.

"what the hell is going on, cordovin!? Why am I getting reports of your men blocking forces of the Republic from entering argus!?"

"I never agreed to this 'joint-occupation' bullshit James!" cordovin responded. "hell, I wasn't even made aware of it! But even if I was, I refuse to give up ground to an army we know next to nothing about!"

"okay, admittedly, I should have told you, that's fair." James acknowledged. "but even still, we're trying to builf positive relations with them. Plus, I Owe them a favor. So please, for the sake of atlas, tell your men to stand down."

"or else what James?" cordovin asked smugly. That smug look was shattered by James reply.

"or you can say goodbye to your position, cordovin. And don't say your irreplaceable. Almost half of all atlas academy graduates join the army, and training has greatly improved since your time. The only reason your still there is because... Honestly, I don't even remember. So I'll will repeat myself once: order your men to stand down, and allow the Republic to enter the city."

Cordovin was stunned, to say the least. She had become so used to being the highest-ranking person in the city that she thought she was untouchable, only to be almost immediately brought back down to earth. Biting her tongue, she replied.

"very well, general. I'll have my men stand down immediately."

"good." ironwood replied. "and I hope, for the sake of my sanity and your career, that nothing like this ever happens again."

With that, ironwood ended the call, and cordovin let out a huff. She wasn't happy with it, but as long as the men of this so-called Republic respected her authority, she would tolerate it...

Back in atlas, ironwood put his hand to the bridge of his nose and let out a sigh.

"I swear to oum, that woman seems to forget that we aren't in a state of war." he muttered to himself. "someday, she'll get in over her head and do something that messes up in the worst way."

Looking over his shoulder, the general saw a member of the newest branch of the atlas military: the atlesian marines. Trained as a cross between standard infantry and commandos, these soldiers were considered on par with the ace-ops. Their armor had red accents simaler to atlesian shock troopers, allbiet with none on their helmet, with the helmet itself covering the whole helmet, using a built-in camera to allow the wearer to view their surroundings.

"I want you and a squad of your men deployed to argus as soon as possible

"I want you and a squad of your men deployed to argus as soon as possible." ironwood said to the Marine. "officially, your mission is to act as colonel cordovins bodyguards. However, your true objective is to make sure she doesn't do anything that could jeaprodise our alliance with the galactic Republic. If she tries anything that could do this, you either contact me, or take matters into your own hands."

"understood, general." the marine said, saluting the general before leaving the room.

Ironwood slowly sat back in his chair. He knew it wasn't right, but he also knew that he couldn't take any risks. The Republic was too powerful for atlas to fight, and he knew. So now, his goal was to maintain good relations, now matter the cost. And to ensure this, his next target was the schnee dust corporation. More specifically, it's ceo, jaques schnee...
