"So what's the plan? I suggest you go the messy route but hey he's your cousin," Jacob shrugged through FaceTime as he shifted his glasses and kept scrolling on his laptop.
Obviously I was in my home office and not the office in the restaurant as it was still extremely early in the morning. We were currently discussing how we are going to expose what we uncovered; he wants messy and I want to think it through because one of us had a parent that let us watch housewives growing up and the other didn't.
"But Oli wouldn't it be so satisfying? And then you can be like this like-" and then he tried to reenact some dramatic reunion scene. Somewhere in our group chat he's probably shared the video too.
"Don't get me wrong, I'd love to go messy too but the family ties to this is what makes it a little tricky for me. I also have to figure out what's going to even happen to this restaurant once this all happens since Charlie and I co-own anyway." I explained as I sighed and laid back in my chair.
It was so damn early and Aurora wasn't even up yet because the last time I tried to call or message her at this time she cussed me out - saying she's not a morning person.
"True. But I think you can think about ownership and everything after; at the moment both Charlie and your aunt need to get out somehow. When are you doing everything?" He asked as he stared at me through the phone.
"At the end of this week. I didn't want to make this long at all; I've already called for a board meeting since we're doing a review as well as touching base with shareholders anyway." I explained as I reached over for chewing gum.
"That's smart, since his dad and yours still have shares to the company so they'll have to be there to witness it. Do you think you'll let your dad know before hand or?" Jacob asked me as he reached for his purple cap and placed it on his head.
"I wasn't going to at first but I'm thinking it might be better to tell him beforehand. So I'll swing by tomorrow and just you know.." I pondered and paused.
"Yeah definitely just drop that on him over tea or something; definitely something your old dad needs right?" Jacob chuckled but I stopped when the fear of a potential stroke could actually happen in that scenario.
"Okay Oli it's fine, your dad is a straight forward man when it comes to business anyway so I'm sure he'll handle this well. In fact he's a good ally throughout all this right?" Jacob reasoned with me and I slowly nodded.
My dad was a pretty strong guy, I don't know why I was even worrying about his reaction to all this.
"Well yes he is. Yeah alright that's happening; Reginald is also preparing the PowerPoint as we speak." I peered over at my laptop screen and was staring at a PowerPoint screen we both had access to.
"Sounds like you have it sorted. Can't wait to hear how it all goes,"Jacob grinned and waved at the camera before ending the call.
I sighed and leaned back into my chair as my eyes wondered up to the ceiling. I don't know what I was so anxious about but I was glad this was all going to end soon. I needed to go to the restaurant later on anyway to touch base with the staff either way but it felt good to establish what I needed to do this week in the freedom and privacy of my own office.
