Twirling the marker in my hands and rapping my foot against the hard floor, I stared at the web of connections wall before me, wondering if there's anything I had missed.
"Hmm, let's see," I muttered, walking closer to the wall while studying all the timing listed with each passing incident. Hopefully they are all accurate.
"The have to be." I whisper to myself. "I have lived the same day for two months and more. This is how thing always play out.
Around 9:55 in the morning, Sejin calls me. I receive the news. The morning news is released around 9:00 so by the time I'm awake, the news is almost over but I know what's going on.
Eyes darting to the line connecting to the next incident, I recounted the details. 11:10. I reach the airport after the heavy traffic. The timing of my arrival always differed depending on how early I got everytime I tried to change things by meeting them. I often reach around 10, sometimes later than 11:10, but when I let the incidents play out like they were meant to, it's always, 11:10. Only 10 minutes until BTS's flight takes off.
That means 11:20. That's the time the plane finally leaves, and around 11:23, I leave. And then they say goes by a blue until night falls. And the dreaded news happens.
The nine o'clock news. That's when they announce it. After ten hours of separating from them, the news is released. The news that BTS are no more.
While on my first day, I had returned to work at HYBE after bidding them goodbye, the rest of the two months passed by in a blur. Perhaps incidents that were not necessary for the plan remained as they were and didn't need to be relieved again and again. Time just seemed to move quickly like it never existed.
But not this time. Time won't move on after I leave BTS. Something happens to them during that period of time. The plane crashed. They die. While I just go on with my life. But I won't let it be that way.
Looking down at the wall with my chin held high, I fisted my hands with gritted teeth as I felt the hammering of my heart against my chest as I decided on my plan. When tomorrow comes, things will be different. Time we not speed up. I'll get on that plane and live that period when BTS lost their lives. Instead of waiting for the nine o clock news, I'll do things differently this time.
"Yeah." I tell myself, trying to calm my erratic heart. "I'll make it different this time."
-------
I didn't wait for Sejin's call the next morning. Nor did I turn on the TV. The moment my eyes snapped open, I jumped out of bed and pulled the curtains apart, letting the glittery sunlight pour in before getting my stuff done and heading out directly to the airport. One hour earlier than the flight.
I didn't know what I would expect but if there's one thing I have learnt in all my failed attempts, it's that BTS's manager, Jin San, was never really with them. Everytime I met them, they were alone, and the only thing I saw of him was his retreating figure as he boarded the plane. Like he was somewhere else the whole time.
But then again, Yoongi said their manager had forced them out of the apartment. How did he do that if he wasn't with them?
Did I get something wrong?
With a frown edged to my face, I tapped my legs impatiently as I wondered why I didn't cover the intro of my plan yesterday. Stupid me.
So caught up in my own dilemma, I would have missed the figure walking away discreetly if I hadn't recognized that leather brown jacket. Jin San. He was here after all.
And judging from the direction he was coming from, it's the maintenance section only allowed for specific personnel's. Why on earth was Jin San in there?
