As the night wore on and the sky darkened, she couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had been gnawing at her all evening. She stood up from the couch, feeling restless, and walk over to the window. The city lights twinkled below, a mere distraction against the vast expanse of the night sky above.
She glanced up at the stars, watching as they slowly emerged from behind the clouds, their light casting a soft glow over the room. It was a beautiful sight, but she couldn't find solace in it. She was waiting for Freen to walk through the door, to finally have the conversation that had been weighing heavily on her mind ever since she came here.
-She stood there, lost in her thoughts, she heard the sound of the door closing, and glanced over her shoulder to see her standing in the doorway. Freen looked concerned yet still there a touch of nervousness on her face, along with an excitement that was evident in her small smile. "Freen" she called softly, beckoned her to come closer. "We need to talk"
-Freen's heart sank on the ground the moment she heard those words. She knew that Rebecca wanted to talk, but she wasn't sure when she'd take the chance. With each step she took, billions of questions came to her mind. Different scenarios and different possibilities were being made within her. The moment she took her last step, and stood on Rebecca's shadow, she had begun opening up her heart. "I can't pretend that everything is okay, when it's not Freen..my heart aches every time I see you taking care of me"
-Freen remind silent, looking at her from the window's reflection. Rebecca was doing the same, she still needs the courage to turn around and look at her in the eye. They stood there, enveloped in the quiet of the night, the weight of her words hanging heavy in the air. Freen knew that this conversation could change everything between them, she knew that everything wasn't alright, but the longing for her, was surpassing every pain that she had felt within. "I've hurt you..Freen" she said, her voice cracked with emotions. "And here you are..taking care of me..treating me like I am an absolute angel..I don't...I don't..-"
-Her words were cut off, when Freen rushed and wrapped her arms from behind. Such action made her eyes welled with tears, as she held her arms afraid to let go. She closed her eyes, trying not to cry, she felt saddened, yet safe between her arms. Freen buried her face into her neck, trying to comfort her from her thoughts. "You are an absolute angel..Rebecca..for me at least" she whispered, while gluing herself to her back. "You're telling me that you've made mistakes..you're telling me that you don't deserve this, care and kindness..but I will tell you otherwise"
-With those words, Rebecca opened her eyes and let go of her tears. She rested her head on Freen's shoulder, as she sobbed in pain. Freen looked at her, while her tears shimmered in her eyes. She couldn't bear to see her like that, she couldn't bear to hear her whimpers. "Our time back then..wasn't meant to be...we had our ups and downs...we had our struggles to fight...and look at the point the we've reached" she crooned, as she squeezed her arms, as if she's trying to comfort her with every possible gesture. "I'm not gonna lie to you...yes I was hurt when you looked at me the other day...I felt..that I've committed a sin, I felt lost..I was trying to understand..to get an answer...to make amends if I was truly wrong...but, all I had..was to wait"
-Rebecca break Freen's grip and turned to face her. Her cheeks flooded with tears, which made Freen wiped away every single one of them. "But still Freen!..I've hurt you!" she wailed, as she held her shirt with both hands "I am a terrible person Freen..I can't shake off all of those memories, all of those feelings, and..and your eyes the other day...I felt like..I'm asking for a lot..without offering in return"
