Theodore Nott sat by the Black Lake, staring at the rippling water as if it held the answers to the turmoil inside him. The past few weeks had been a blur of classes and Quidditch practice, but nothing could distract him from the aching void left by Y/N's absence. They had been inseparable since their first year, bound by a shared sense of humor and an unspoken understanding of the pressures of being a Slytherin.

But then, things had changed. Words had been exchanged, harsh and cutting, and before he knew it, she had walked away. Theo had spent countless nights replaying their arguments, wishing he could take back his words, his pride. He missed her more than he could express, but he didn't know how to bridge the gap that had formed between them.

Today, the autumn air was crisp, carrying the scent of pine and the distant chatter of students. Theo closed his eyes, trying to summon the courage to do what he had been avoiding for weeks. He needed to talk to her, to make things right. But what if it was too late? What if she had moved on?

Just as he was about to give in to his doubts, he heard footsteps behind him. Turning, he saw Y/N approaching, her expression a mix of determination and apprehension. His heart leapt into his throat. She looked as beautiful as ever, her eyes reflecting the sunlight like shards of glass.

"Theo," she said softly, stopping a few feet away. "Can we talk?"

He nodded, unable to trust his voice. She sat down beside him, and for a moment, they just sat there in silence, the weight of unspoken words hanging between them.

"I miss you," Y/N finally said, her voice trembling. "I miss us."

Theo's chest tightened. "I miss you too," he admitted, his own voice barely more than a whisper. "I've been such an idiot, Y/N. I never meant to hurt you."

She looked at him, her eyes filled with a mixture of pain and hope. "Then why did you push me away?"

He took a deep breath, gathering his thoughts. "I was scared," he confessed. "Scared of how much you meant to me. I thought if I kept my distance, I wouldn't get hurt. But I ended up hurting you instead."

Y/N reached out, her fingers brushing against his. "I was scared too," she said. "Scared that you didn't feel the same way. But pushing each other away didn't help either of us, did it?"

He shook his head, the weight of his mistakes pressing down on him. "I don't want to lose you, Y/N. I want to make things right, if you'll let me."

A small smile tugged at her lips. "I want that too, Theo. But we have to be honest with each other, no more hiding our feelings."

He nodded, relief washing over him. "I promise," he said, squeezing her hand. "No more hiding."

They sat there for a while longer, talking about everything and nothing, rebuilding the connection they had almost lost. The sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the lake, and for the first time in weeks, Theo felt a sense of peace.

As they stood to leave, Y/N paused, looking up at him with a shy smile. "Do you think we can start over?"

Theo smiled, his heart lifting. "I'd like that," he said, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "Let's start over."

And as they walked back to the castle together, the past began to fade, replaced by the promise of a new beginning.
