Y/N had been dating Sirius Black for almost a year. Sirius was charming, funny, and always knew how to make her smile. They spent countless hours together, laughing and enjoying each other's company. But over time, Y/N started to notice someone else: Sirius's younger brother, Regulus.
Regulus was the opposite of Sirius. He was quiet, reserved, and had a seriousness about him that intrigued Y/N. At first, she thought it was just curiosity. Regulus was a puzzle, and she wanted to understand him better. But the more she got to know him, the more she realized there was something deeper between them.
It all started one evening in the library. Y/N was struggling with her Potions homework when Regulus approached her. "Need some help?" he asked, his voice soft and polite.
Y/N looked up, surprised. "Oh, Regulus. Yes, that would be great."
He sat down next to her and explained the assignment in a way that made it easier to understand. As they worked, Y/N found herself stealing glances at him. There was something calming about his presence, and she enjoyed the way he spoke so thoughtfully.
After that night, they began to see each other more often. They would study together, have quiet conversations, and sometimes just sit in comfortable silence. Y/N found herself looking forward to these moments more and more.
One afternoon, as they sat under a tree by the Black Lake, Regulus turned to her. "Y/N, can I ask you something?"
"Of course," she replied, curious.
"Why are you with Sirius?" His question was blunt, but his tone was gentle.
Y/N was taken aback. "What do you mean?"
Regulus looked down at his hands. "He's... different from you. I just wonder if he makes you happy."
Y/N thought about it. Sirius did make her happy, but it was a different kind of happiness. It was excitement and laughter, but it wasn't the calm, deep connection she felt with Regulus. "He does," she said slowly. "But... it's complicated."
Regulus nodded, understanding in his eyes. "I see."
Weeks passed, and Y/N's feelings for Regulus only grew stronger. She loved Sirius, but she couldn't deny the bond she was forming with his brother. It was tearing her apart.
One night, after a particularly heated argument with Sirius, Y/N found herself wandering the halls of Hogwarts, trying to clear her head. She ended up in the Astronomy Tower, staring out at the stars.
"Y/N?" a voice called softly.
She turned to see Regulus standing there, concern etched on his face. "Regulus, what are you doing here?"
"I could ask you the same thing," he said, stepping closer. "Are you okay?"
Y/N shook her head, tears welling up in her eyes. "No, I'm not."
Regulus wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. "Tell me what's wrong."
She clung to him, sobbing into his chest. "I don't know what to do. I care about Sirius, but I... I think I love you."
Regulus pulled back slightly, looking into her eyes. "Y/N, I love you too. I have for a long time."
Y/N's heart raced. She had imagined hearing those words from him, but now that he had said them, she didn't know what to do. "What about Sirius?" she whispered.
Regulus sighed. "We have to be honest with him. It's the only way."
The next day, Y/N and Regulus found Sirius in the Gryffindor common room. He was lounging on a couch, looking relaxed. When he saw them together, his smile faded. "What's going on?" he asked, sensing the tension.
Y/N took a deep breath, her heart pounding. "Sirius, we need to talk."
He sat up, concern in his eyes. "What is it?"
Y/N glanced at Regulus, who gave her a reassuring nod. "I've been spending a lot of time with Regulus, and... I've developed feelings for him. Strong feelings."
Sirius stared at her, his expression a mix of shock and hurt. "You're joking, right?"
Y/N shook her head, tears brimming in her eyes. "I'm so sorry, Sirius. I never wanted this to happen."
Sirius looked at Regulus, anger flashing in his eyes. "And you? You just couldn't stay away, could you?"
Regulus stood his ground, his voice steady. "I love her, Sirius. I didn't plan for this either, but it happened."
Sirius clenched his fists, his face red with anger. "You're my brother, Regulus. How could you do this to me?"
Regulus's voice was calm, but firm. "I never meant to hurt you. But we can't change how we feel."
Sirius looked between them, betrayal clear in his eyes. "I can't believe this," he said quietly. "You were supposed to be my friend, Y/N."
"I'm so sorry," she whispered, feeling her heart break.
Sirius turned and stormed out of the room, leaving Y/N and Regulus standing there, the weight of their decision heavy on their shoulders.
Over the next few days, Y/N and Regulus tried to give Sirius space, hoping he would come to terms with what had happened. It wasn't easy. Everywhere Y/N went, she felt the sting of his absence. Their friendship had been a cornerstone of her life, and now it felt like it was crumbling.
One evening, as Y/N and Regulus sat by the Black Lake, she couldn't help but feel the burden of guilt. "Do you think he'll ever forgive us?"
Regulus sighed, wrapping an arm around her. "I hope so. But it will take time."
Y/N leaned into him, finding comfort in his presence. "I hate that we hurt him."
"I know," Regulus said softly. "But sometimes, the heart wants what it wants. We have to follow it, even if it means making difficult choices."
They sat in silence, watching the sun set over the water. Y/N knew the road ahead would be challenging, but with Regulus by her side, she felt ready to face it.
In the weeks that followed, Sirius slowly began to talk to Y/N again. It was awkward and strained, but it was a start. He and Regulus had a long, heated conversation, but by the end of it, they seemed to reach an understanding. It wasn't perfect, but it was a step toward healing.
As the school year drew to a close, Y/N and Regulus found themselves looking forward to a future together. They knew it wouldn't be easy, but they were committed to making it work.
One evening, as they sat in the Astronomy Tower, Regulus took Y/N's hand. "I know this has been hard, but I'm so glad we found each other."
Y/N smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her. "Me too. I love you, Regulus."
He leaned in, kissing her softly. "I love you too, Y/N."
And in that moment, despite all the challenges and heartbreak, Y/N knew she had made the right choice. With Regulus, she had found a love that was deep and true, a love that would see them through whatever came their way.
