Y/N had always noticed Lorenzo Berkshire. He was charming, good-looking, and always surrounded by a group of friends in the Slytherin common room. Enzo had a reputation for being a bit of a player, but Y/N tried not to pay too much attention to rumors.
One day, while sitting in the library, Y/N saw Enzo walk in with his friends. They were laughing and talking loudly, which usually meant trouble. She buried her head in her book, hoping they wouldn't notice her.
But Enzo did notice her. He nudged his friend, Draco Malfoy, and whispered something in his ear. Draco smirked and replied, "I bet you can't get her to go out with you."
Enzo raised an eyebrow. "You're on," he said confidently.
Y/N glanced up from her book just as Enzo approached her table. "Hey, Y/N," he said, flashing a smile that made her heart skip a beat. "Do you mind if I sit here?"
Surprised, she nodded. "Sure, Enzo. What do you need?"
"I was just thinking," Enzo began, sitting down across from her, "we've never really talked before. How come?"
Y/N shrugged, trying to hide her nervousness. "I guess we just run in different circles."
"Well, I think we should change that," Enzo said, leaning closer. "How about we go to Hogsmeade this weekend? Just the two of us."
Y/N's eyes widened in surprise. Enzo Berkshire asking her out? It seemed too good to be true. But she found herself nodding. "Okay, that sounds nice."
As the week went by, Y/N couldn't help but feel excited about her date with Enzo. She told her friends, who were skeptical but supportive.
On Saturday, Enzo and Y/N met in the courtyard and walked to Hogsmeade together. They talked and laughed, and Y/N found herself enjoying Enzo's company more than she expected. He was funny, attentive, and made her feel special.
The day was perfect, and by the end of it, Y/N was sure she had misjudged him. Maybe the rumors weren't true after all.
However, back in the Slytherin common room, Enzo's friends were waiting. Draco smirked as Enzo walked in. "Well, did you do it?"
Enzo hesitated, glancing at Y/N who was heading to her dorm. He felt a pang of guilt but quickly masked it. "Yeah, she said yes."
Draco laughed and handed Enzo a few Galleons. "I knew you could do it."
The next few days, Y/N and Enzo spent more time together. They studied, walked by the lake, and even had a few more dates. Y/N was falling for him, and it scared her. She was starting to think that maybe, just maybe, Enzo felt the same way.
One evening, Y/N overheard Draco and Enzo talking in the common room. She was hidden around the corner, out of sight but close enough to hear every word.
"How's the bet going?" Draco asked.
"It's not a bet anymore, Draco," Enzo said quietly. "I really like her."
"Sure, you do," Draco scoffed. "Don't tell me you're actually falling for her."
Y/N felt her heart shatter. A bet? It had all been a bet. She stepped out from her hiding place, tears in her eyes. "How could you, Enzo?"
Enzo turned, his face paling when he saw her. "Y/N, wait. It's not what you think."
"Not what I think?" she snapped, her voice shaking. "I was just a game to you. A way to win some money."
"It's not like that anymore," Enzo tried to explain, stepping towards her. "I swear, I really like you."
But Y/N shook her head, stepping back. "I can't believe I fell for it. I can't believe I fell for you."
She turned and ran, leaving Enzo standing there, his heart breaking. He had messed up, and he knew it.
For the next few weeks, Y/N avoided Enzo. She threw herself into her studies and spent time with her friends, trying to forget the hurt. But Enzo didn't give up. He apologized, left her notes, and tried to talk to her whenever he could.
Finally, one evening, Y/N found him waiting for her by the lake. "Please, Y/N," he said softly. "Give me a chance to explain."
She crossed her arms, wary but willing to listen. "You have five minutes."
Enzo took a deep breath. "It started as a bet, and I'm sorry for that. But then I got to know you, and everything changed. I fell for you, Y/N. I fell hard. I know I messed up, but I'm asking for a second chance. Let me prove to you that I'm not that guy anymore."
Y/N looked into his eyes, searching for the truth. She saw the sincerity there, and something inside her softened. "One chance, Enzo. Don't mess it up."
Enzo nodded, relief flooding his features. "I won't. I promise."
And so, they began again, taking it slow and building trust. It wasn't easy, but Y/N saw the change in Enzo. He was kinder, more genuine, and determined to prove his love.
In time, they found their way back to each other, their bond stronger for having survived the storm. Enzo had won the bet, but more importantly, he had won Y/N's heart for real.
