Theo's father, Tiberius Nott, sat across the table with an air of haughty disdain.

"She doesn't seem like she comes from the right sort of family," he said, swirling his wine glass as he studied Y/N.

"Not exactly the kind of match I envisioned for you, Theodore," his Father added, his tone cold and clipped.

Theo opened his mouth to defend her, but Y/N beat him to it.

"You're right," she said, her tone cool and composed. "I don't come from the kind of family that judges people based on their bloodline or status. But I'm pretty sure Theo appreciates that about me."

Tiberius raised an eyebrow, his gaze sharp. "You're awfully bold for someone who doesn't belong in this world."

"I don't need to 'belong' to prove myself," Y/N shot back. "And if my confidence bothers you, that sounds more like a you problem."

Theo tried to suppress his grin, but it was impossible. "I couldn't have said it better myself."

Tiberius leaned back in his chair, his cold gaze fixed on Y/N. "Confidence doesn't make up for a lack of pedigree," he said flatly.

"I wasn't aware love required a bloodline," Y/N shot back, her voice sharp.

Theo coughed into his hand to hide his grin, but his Father didn't look amused.

"Your insolence is unbecoming," Tiberius sneered. "You're not the kind of partner who will help Theodore rise in the world. You'll only drag him down."

"I think Theo can decide for himself what kind of person lifts him up or drags him down," Y/N retorted. "And I'll remind you that respect is earned, not inherited."

Tiberius's lips thinned, but Theo finally stepped in, placing a hand on Y/N's shoulder. "Father, you don't have to like her. But you will respect her."

Y/N smiled softly at Theo, grateful for his support. Tiberius glowered, but Theo's unwavering stance left little room for argument.
