Draco was in the Great Hall, half-heartedly picking at his dinner, when Pansy Parkinson dropped into the seat beside him, her face unusually pale.
"Draco," she said, her voice urgent. "It's Y/N. She's in St. Mungo's."
Draco froze, his fork clattering to the table. "What?"
"She had an accident," Pansy explained quickly. "I don't know the details, but she's hurt. Badly."
He didn't need to hear anything more. Draco stood abruptly, his chair scraping loudly against the stone floor. Without a word, he left the Great Hall, his mind racing.
As he made his way to the hospital, his usual arrogance was nowhere to be found. Instead, there was a deep, gnawing fear in his chest. He couldn't lose her—not when she meant so much to him, even if he hadn't fully admitted it to himself yet.
The moment he arrived at St. Mungo's, he was all sharp edges and biting questions, his desperation hidden behind a mask of anger. But beneath it all, he was just a boy terrified of losing someone he loved.

Draco leaned against the doorframe for a moment, his arms crossed tightly over his chest. He took a deep breath before finally stepping into the room, his polished demeanor faltering.
"You look awful," he muttered, though his voice lacked its usual sharpness. He sat down beside her, his fingers tapping anxiously on his knee.
"You always bounce back, you know," he said quietly, his gaze fixed on the floor. "You've got this annoying way of proving everyone wrong. So do it again."
His voice softened as he finally looked at her. "You're stronger than you think, Y/N. Stronger than any of us. Just... don't scare me like this again, alright?"
—
Draco was mid-rant, pacing back and forth as he complained to Y/N about how inconsiderate she was for scaring everyone. He froze when he heard her voice.
"Draco, you're being dramatic."
He spun around, his eyes wide as he saw her awake. Relief washed over him, and he let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding.
"You're awake," he said, his voice uncharacteristically soft.
She smirked weakly. "Obviously."
Draco rolled his eyes, but his usual arrogance was missing. He sat beside her, taking her hand. "Don't ever do that again," he muttered. "You scared me half to death."
Y/N squeezed his hand lightly. "I'll try not to."
