Y/N stood alone on the battlefield, her heart shattered. The echoes of the final battle still reverberated in her ears, but the only sound she could focus on was the silence where Draco's voice used to be. The love of her life, Draco Malfoy, had fallen, a casualty of the war that had torn their world apart.
As the days turned into weeks, Y/N couldn't bring herself to accept that he was gone. She found herself wandering the places they had once shared, as if somehow expecting him to appear. The emptiness in her chest was unbearable. She would often visit the lake where they had spent countless hours together, their laughter echoing across the water.
"Draco," she whispered one evening, sitting by the shore as the sun set, casting an orange glow over the water. "I don't know how to live without you."
Her friends and family tried to comfort her, but nothing they said could ease the pain. They urged her to move on, but how could she when every part of her was still tied to him?
One night, Y/N lay in her bed, clutching the locket Draco had given her. Tears streamed down her face as memories of their time together flooded her mind. She closed her eyes, wishing more than anything that he was there with her.
"Y/N," a soft voice whispered.
Her eyes shot open, and there he was, standing at the foot of her bed, bathed in a soft, ethereal light.
"Draco?" she gasped, sitting up. "Is it really you?"
He nodded, his eyes filled with the same love she had always seen in them. "I'm here, love. But you need to listen to me."
She scrambled out of bed, rushing to him, but stopped short, realizing she couldn't touch him. "I miss you so much," she choked out. "I can't do this without you."
Draco's expression softened. "I know, Y/N. But you have to. You have to live, for both of us. You have so much ahead of you."
"I can't," she sobbed. "I can't let you go."
He stepped closer, though still out of reach. "You have to. Holding on to me is only causing you more pain. I will always be with you, in your heart, but you need to move on. Find happiness again."
She shook her head, her tears falling harder. "How? How can I be happy without you?"
Draco smiled sadly. "By remembering our love, and knowing that it was real and beautiful. And by allowing yourself to find new joys in life. You deserve that, Y/N."
"But I love you," she whispered.
"And I love you," he replied. "Always. But you need to let me go."
She took a deep breath, the pain in her chest almost too much to bear. "I'll try," she said finally. "For you."
Draco's form began to fade, his smile lingering. "That's all I ask. Goodbye, Y/N."
"Goodbye, Draco," she whispered as he vanished.
In the weeks that followed, Y/N tried to take Draco's advice. It wasn't easy, but she began to find small moments of happiness. She started painting again, something she had always loved. She spent time with friends, and even though the pain was still there, it began to lessen.
One afternoon, as she painted by the lake, she felt a gentle breeze brush her cheek, almost like a kiss. She closed her eyes, a smile forming on her lips.
"I love you, Draco," she whispered to the wind.
And somehow, she knew that he heard her.
