Chapter 3

"It's me" I called out closing the door behind myself as I walked into Cole's living room through the back door, I had stopped waiting for someone to open the door for me years ago, this was basically my second home anyways

"We're in the kitchen" I walked into the kitchen and set my purse down sitting on the chair next to cassies

"How was work ?" Cole grinned from across the table

"You'll never believe who was at the café today man" his grin changed into a frown "Walker Scobell" the frown didn't lift from his face hearing the name so I just rolled my eyes "Percy Jackson ?"

"Shut up"

"Uh huh"

"Why do you always get the good shifts this is so unfair"

"Well it was your shift"

"Do you want some food Mel ? We have leftover spaghetti, I put some aside for you" Blake asked walking into the kitchen looking at me

"I ate at the bakery already I'm stuffed"

"Alright, it's in the fridge in case you want it later" I smiled and nodded at her

"I need to get home and finish this presentation though, let's go cass"

"Coming, hey Mel you know what I thought ?"

"What did you think ?"

"Since we didn't get to go to the actual eras tour... can we maybe go watch it in the cinema ?" I stood still for a moment, I knew she was dying to see that show and I would die to see it too but I also knew that we certainly didn't have that kind of money in the moment

I grabbed my purse and turned to her ready to tell her that it might not be the best moment for it but seeing her excited face I couldn't bring myself to tell her that, so instead I just smiled

"That sounds amazing"

"Really ?"

"Yeah, for sure" she smiled happily running off to grab her things while I kept standing there starting to do some calculations in my head

"Mel you know that-"

"I don't need anything" i interrupted my best friend smiling at him "we're fine"

"Mel"I shook my head again

"Des told me she bought a whole lot of ice cream so we can binge watch rom-coms tomorrow" I grinned changing the subject

"We watched rom-coms last time it's my turn" he complained

"Actually it's her turn since it was my turn last time"

"That is so unfair, you two want to watch the same thing and I'm left on my own"

"You can for sure join the girls if you want I'm sure they'd have no problem with you hanging around them" he snorted a laugh shaking his head, Cole wasn't ugly, he was pretty handsome actually (of course I would never tell him that) and the worst part was that he knew that. He was absolutely not my type but he was for sure most of the 6th graders dream guy

"Why is there only one guy in our friend group anyways how stupid is that"

"Can you call that a friend group if there's only three of us ? Isn't that more of a friend trio ?"

"I honestly don't care what you call it"

"Is it bad that we're only a trio ? How comes we didn't make any friends after destiny ?"

"Speak for yourself there Melly"

"Of course, sorry mr. Footballer"

"I'll come with you, don't have anything to do anyways" he got up from the tables and walked off to find Cassandra "Mom I'm going with Mel and Cass"

"Alright honey don't be late" their house was only like 3 houses away from ours which was pretty convenient, we could easily go from one to the other within seconds which was great

Cassie went to sleep and Cole and I went into my room where he laid on my bed on his phone while I sat on the floor leaned against my bed to finish my presentation

"Shit" I clicked some random buttons on my laptop to get any reaction at all "No. nononono come on" I felt Cole moving behind me and saw his face plop up from the corner of my eye "fuck no"

"Woah using big words ?"

"Shut up"

"What's going on over there ?"

"My laptop isn't responding. I swear to god if I just did all of that for it to get deleted I will cry so much" we both just stared at my scene for a bit until he reached out and took it onto the bed to him

"It's overheated Mel just give it a moment" I felt a stone lift from my heart hearing those words and sighed

"Dude that was terrifying" I stood up and sat back down on my bed drinking a little of my water that stood on my bedside table "I'm done with the presentation though so that's good if it doesn't delete itself"

"That doesn't normally happen"

"Yeah well Laptops normally don't overheat from an hour of use yet here we are"

"I don't think a normal functioning laptop is supposed to overheat at all"

"Yeah well" I shrugged taking my phone and starting to scroll a bit on TikTok, i somehow ended up looking through edits of Walker for a whole lot of the time

I wasn't sure how I didn't notice him immediately at the café because genuinely how could I not ?

"I should probably go, well I hope your laptop doesn't die completely"

"Stop scaring me" he shrugged getting up from my bed, I didn't bother getting up to walk him out, he knew where the door was after all

"Also the amount of edits you just watched is scary-" we both stopped moving and stood still right where we were when we heard some noise come from downstairs, Cole turned back towards me while I was still listening for the noise

"Is that key noise ?"" I moved my eyes to meet Cole's "is someone breaking in right now ?"

Remember the Belle and Momona friendship name being mole ? Cole and Mel could 100% also be mole and I find that so funny rn 😭
