Chapyer 30

"I can't believe you did this. How did I not notice ?" I questioned looking around the room where my friends were spread out, I was on the couch leaned against Walker with his arm around me

"You were kinda too busy talking to someone to notice anything" she looked at Walker while emphasising the someone

"Whoops" I leaned more into Walker as he intertwined our fingers

"You wouldn't even notice if someone like broke into the house"

I had never been someone who didn't notice things like this, I was always alerted and always heard and noticed everything my that was happening in my surroundings since I had learned to be very aware from a very young age when the abuse started

Being with Walker made me feel comfortable enough to turn that off for a while, I could focus on just him easily and being with Walker did actually make me feel like I was just a child myself

I looked around the room at Destiny and Cole loudly arguing about something and Cassie laughing uncontrollably at them

"Want to catch a breath outside ?" I moved my head a little to face Walker frowning a bit, but it quickly turned into a smile

"Sure" he got up not dropping my hand as I followed him

"Where are you going ?"

"Garden"

"Wow she ditched us on her birthday"

"Let the girl live Cole, just because you can have a love life don't make other peoples miserable" I heard my sister start laughing again at Destinys response to Cole and just smiled closing the door behind me

"Well she's mean" Walker commented as we sat down on a step

"Yeah, mostly to him" he chuckled shaking his head a little, it was completely dark outside since it was way past midnight alright

"So, did we surprise you ?"

"Yeah, I had no idea. How did you even get here so fast ?"

"I was here to set up some things earlier and Cole said I can just call you from their house" I playfully hit his arm with my free hand

"You could've told me"

"Yeah but then I wouldn't have seen your cute surprised face" I rolled my eyes and turned away from him the smile remaining on my face "hey wait here I'll be right back" he got up and rushed inside leaving me alone in the darkness

Considering a few months ago I hated everything about my miserable life this was pretty good, I had no idea how I managed to get out of there but I knew for sure I wouldn't have done it without the people who were here today

Walker sat back down next to me with a basket on his lap this time

"Walker"

"Mel"

"You didn't have to get me anything"

"Oh just shut up" he moved the basket over so it was on top of my lap now, it was a pink basket filled with a whole lot of things individually wrapped and the basket was secured by an adorable bow

"You did this yourself ?"

"Yeah.... Well I maybe had a little help from Belle but that's nothing" saying that he had a little help from Belle either meant that she did the whole thing or that she showed it to him and he did the rest somehow

I took the bow off and put it aside grabbing the first gift and unwrapping it, after a whole lot of unwrapping and smelling candles that he got me and smiling and thank yous I finally got to the last one

I unwrapped the gift and opened the box revealing a beautiful bracelet with a pink heart charm on it

"Walker"

"You can add charms to it and then one day it's gonna have a whole lot of charms" he explained excitedly

I wrapped my arms around his neck with the bracelet still in my hand

"Thank you Walker" I couldn't see his face but I knew exactly the smile that was on his lips "can you put it on ?"

"Sure, but I'll warn you again I'm not good at it"

"It's fine, you gotta learn this it's important" I joked holding my wrist out for him, he struggled a little but eventually got the bracelet closed, he caressed my palm with his thumb slowly

"Is that not going away ?" I shook my head looking down at my hand

"I have really sensitive skin, everything leaves scars on me, I once cut my arm from a pencil and I still have a scar from it" I told him showing my right arm where you could still see a faint scar

He pulled the hoodie he was wearing off and handed it to me without a single word

"What ?"

"You're freezing Mel"

"Yeah I was kind of planning on going to bed, but you're gonna get a cold put your hoodie on"

"I'm not cold, it's really warm out here" I gave in since I was in fact freezing in the cool June night air and I pulled the hoodie over my head

"We can go inside if you want to"

"Yeah in a bit, just a little bit more here with just you" I grinned and gave him a quick kiss before leaning my head on his shoulder and looking up at the sky, he leaned his head on mine and looked up too

"What is your favorite season ?"

"Uhm..., probably like winter"

"Winter is great" I agreed nodding my head a little

"What is yours ?"

"Spring. It's where all the flowers blossom and it's like warm but not too warm and you can wear cute sundresses and life is just easier"

"Spring is nice" we sat there in comfortable silence for a just enjoying the moment

"Thank you" he moved his head to turn to me so I did the same

"For what ?"

"Everything ? All of it.  I really didn't expect this and this is so..." he smiled and placed a kiss on my lips

"I'm glad you like it"
