Tw for this chapter: Descriptions of violence/gore.

Washing dishes had to be one of your least favorite chores.

The soapy water made your hands feel dry and touching wet food at the bottom of the sink made you wanna shrivel up and die. But still, it was something you'd have to get used to at the café. Luckily for you, you could always chat with the others, or get distracted by their shenanigans.

Today was no exception, as you were chatting with Mei-rin while helping her with dishes. It had been a week since you'd found out Sebastian was a demon, and so far the others hadn't asked. That was until...

"Did ya ever figure it out?" Mei-rin asked, looking over at you.

"What?" You looked up at her before you realized what she was asking about, "Oh, the demon stuff?"

Just then the boys entered, looking disheveled from trying to feed Pluto.

"We're still talking about that?" Bard asked as he lit a cigarette.

"'O course! They never gave us a proper answer after askin' Sebastian!" Mei-rin said, drying her hands with a dish towel.

Finny leaned against the counter, "So, what did you find out, (Name)? Is he a demon?"

"Well..." you paused for a moment.

A part of you wanted to tell them the truth. After all, they were so eager to find out if someone they had worked with for so long was actually a demon. But then you remembered how pissed Sebastian had been when you found out. He even considered killing you! If you told the others, he'd probably hurt them. Finally you sighed.

"Nah, he isn't a demon." You said casually, rinsing out a bowl.

The others looked a bit disappointed.

"Awe man, tha' would've been so cool!" Mei-rin said, adjusting her glasses.

"Yeah, he could've showed us his cool demon powers!" Finny said.

"Or killed us..." Baldroy added.

You smiled awkwardly, shutting off the sink and starting to dry the bowl, "Yeah, he actually found it funny that we thought that. Guess we just gave him more fuel to tease us, huh?"

You shared a laugh with them before handing Mei-rin the bowl, "I'm gonna go on break, alright?"

"Oh, pick us up some sweets from the shops!" Finny said, his eyes shinging eagerly, "The cookies you got last time were really good!"

You couldn't help but smile, "Yeah, I'll stop by and grab some."

Today was oddly chilly, making you hug your coat a bit tighter around yourself. It was approaching October afterall, which meant you'd be freezing your ass off pretty soon. The only mistake you made when moving to London was underestimating the weather.

As you approached the bakery you noticed it was blocked off by police tape and a crowd of people. You furrowed your brows, walking a bit faster until you reached the crowd.

"Alright, everyone, relax! Ma'am, back up!" An officer was shouting, trying to keep people back from an alleyway.

You stood up on your tip toes, your eyes widening when you saw what was definitely a corpse beneath a blanket.

"Ah, (Name), what a surprise." Came a familiar voice from behind you.

You nearly jumped out of your skin, looking up to see the Undertaker leaning over you. You grimaced, a layer of goosebumps covering your skin.

"Undertaker, don't scare me like that." You said with a frown, crossing your arms. You looked back at the alleyway, "Was that the copycat Ripper?"

"Sure was." Undertaker sighed, "Poor dear. This murder was particularly brutal."

You grimaced at what that could mean. From what you learned about the original Jack the Ripper, he would carve the uterus out of the women he killed. How could this be more brutal that that.

"Uh... so what did he do?" You asked, a part of you not even wanting to know.

"My my, I never took you for the one to like the gorey details!" Undertaker giggled and pat your head.

You pushed his hand away, "I'm helping Sebastian and Ciel investigate... so I have the right to know."

Undertaker's smile faded for a second before returning, "Quite the fiesty one. You wound me, truly I am wounded." He sighed, placing his hands on his hips, "If you must know, he tore the poor girl to shreds. Her uterus was next to her, smashed to bits."

You felt yourself go pale, your stomach clenching at the thought, "Shit..." you swallowed back the urge to puke, hugging yourself.

"Shit indeed." Undertaker smiled down at you, "You look pale, dear. Need to sit down?"

"I'm fine..." you sighed, rubbing your neck, "I'm gonna go. Thanks for the info Undertaker."

"You look shaken up, (Name)." Came the voice of Tanaka as you stepped into the kitchen.

You glanced up at him, unable to hide your grimace, "I kinda am, yeah..." you said, sitting down on a stool and sighing, "I passed by a crime scene near the bakery..."

"Ah yes, I heard about it from the paper. We have a second Jack the Ripper, correct."

You nodded, hugging yourself as you stared down at the floor. Tanaka gave you a sympathetic look, placing a hand on your shoulder, "How about I make you some tea."

You couldn't help but smile, looking up at him, "That would be nice, Tanaka... thank you."

Tanaka nodded once and began making the two of you some nice warm tea. He pulled up a stool and sat next to you, handing over the warm drink. You took a sip and felt yourself relax.

"It's a family recipe." Tanaka explained, smiling down at you.

"Oh, you're from Japan, right?" You looked up at him and smile, "Is it nice there?"

Tanaka nodded once, sipping his tea, "It's a beautiful place. You should visit sometime."

You hummed and looked down at your tea, taking a dip. A few moments passed, the silence comforting for your nerves. After a bit Tanaka finally spoke.

"I understand that life can be stressful, especially for someone as young as you." He placed a hand on your shoulder, "You're a smart person, (Name). I think no matter what you go through, you'll make it out in the end."

You smiled up at him, unable to stop a lump from forming in your throat. You swallowed back with a sip of tea, "You're the best, Tanaka."

The man chuckled, "I try." He said before starting to deflate back into his shorter self. He let out his Santa like chuckle and sipped his tea. You smiled warmly and finished your drink, standing up to head outside.

"I'm gonna go spend time with Pluto before closing." You said to him, "Thank you, Tanaka."
