You and Sebastian hadn't spoken to each other since your argument the night before. You spent the night at the mansion, spending time with your coworkers and Ciel himself. You could feel Sebastian's eyes on you constantly, boring into your very soul. You'd managed to avoid him as best as you could. He and Ciel were practically attached at the hip.

Now you were sat on a blanket beneath a tree with Lizzie and Ciel. Sebastian stood behind Ciel, his eyes lingering on you. You sipped a glass of lemonade, trying your best not to make eye contact. Elizabeth chatted animatedly as she nibbled on a slice of strawberry cheesecake.

"And then I saw the cutest dress with a matching suit! Maybe we could wear them at that garden party coming up?" She gave Ciel a hopeful look, her eyes glimmering.

Ciel sighed, looking up at her, "You already bought them, didn't you?"

"Maybe." Lizzie said, her cheeks flushing slightly. "They were just so adorable!"

You looked up at Ciel, "If you're comfortable with it I think it'd be a nice date for the two of you."

Lizzie looked up at Ciel with a hopeful gaze. Ciel glanced between the two of you before sighing. He took a sip of his tea before setting it aside.

"I'll make time in my schedule."

Elizabeth squealed, pulling him into a tight hug. You couldn't help but smile at the sight, taking another drink of your lemonade. You felt Sebastian's eyes on you, almost boring into your very soul. You sighed, forcing yourself not to look. That's what he wanted you to do. He wanted you to look at him, to want him again. But you were being stubborn. You knew he hated that stubbornness.

Lizzie released Ciel, gazing at him with a bright smile. Ciel stared at her for the longest time, his cheeks slightly flushed. Then he smiled back. It was small, not quite reaching his eyes, but you knew it was genuine. You smiled as well. Suddenly Elizabeth looked up at you.

"You should come too!"

You choked on your lemonade, looking up at her and furrowing your brows. "I- Huh? Me?"

Lizzie chuckled, leaning back on her hands. "Of course! I'll get you some nice clothes, spruce you up a bit- oh, do you know how to dance?"

You cleared your throat, glancing at Ciel before looking back at her. "Lizzie, I'm not exactly the high society type." You smiled awkwardly, "I think I'd stick out like a sore thumb."

Lizzie frowned, "But you won't be all alone, we'll be there." She pointed up at Sebastian, "And so will he! He's always comforting you so you'll be just fine!"

You tensed up, finally glancing up at Sebastian. You didn't miss his grin as you looked back at Elizabeth. "I..." You started to protest, but Lizzie gave you that pleading look that nobody could resist. You sighed, rubbing your neck, "Fine, I'll go. But I won't be there for very long."

Now it was your turn to be hugged tight by Lizzie. For a little rich kid, she had some arm strength to her. You gave her a sheepish smile and patted her back.

"I have a feeling you're gonna be the death of Ciel if you move in together."

"She's already the death of me when we're not living together." Ciel grumbled, sipping his tea.

Soon Elizabeth was brought home and you were up in Ciel's drawing room, a board game spread out in front of you. It'd been hours and you were both sat on the floor like children. Sebastian was off preparing lunch, so it was just you and your boss.

You rolled the dice across the board, grimacing. "Dang it..." You grumbled as you moved your character to a space with a skull graphic. "Did you curse these dice in your favor?"

Ciel chuckled, "Maybe."

You smiled warmly and helped him reset the game, knowing he would win. As you prepared for another round you spoke up.

"You really like games, huh? It's odd seeing my oh so intimidating boss enjoying a board game."

Ciel's cheek flushed out of embarrassment, "Don't rub it in. You're in my home."

"Alright, alright."

After a moment of silence Ciel spoke up.

"I was always sick growing up. I had horrible asthma, and we didn't exactly have the resources you have nowadays." Your eyes widened a bit. Was he... Opening up? You tilted your head slightly, meeting his gaze. He continued. "It's nice having someone to play games with. Lizzie is sweet but she's not really the type to sit quietly and play chess."

You stared up at him before smiling warmly. "If you want someone to come over and play some boardgames with you, maybe chat a bit, then I'm here." You shrugged, "Well, when I'm off work."

Ciel stared up at you for the longest time, almost in shock. He then smiled, his eyes glimmering. "You'd do that?"

You chuckled and reached out, ruffling his hair. "Of course! I don't mind playing with kids when they need it."

Rather than shouting at you, Ciel laughed, swatting your hand away. Soon you were both laughing. It felt nice seeing that glimmer in his eyes and that bright smile on his face. You smiled up at him, patting his head.

"If you ever need a comfort person, I'm free."

Ciel looked up at you, tilting his head slightly. "I have Sebastian, you don't have to."

Your smile faded a bit at the mention of Sebastian, remembering how much he insisted that he didn't care. You sighed, giving Ciel's head a final pat before leaning back on your hands, "According to Sebastian he's a big scary demon with no feelings." You looked up at him, smiling. "How about you chat with me until he's done being stubborn."

Ciel chuckled, fixing his hair the best he could, "Are you trying to make him jealous."

"What, psh no!"

You stared at each other before breaking down into laughter again. Suddenly any stress felt non-existent. You thought back to Sebastian's words, how he'd seen hellbent on the fact that he didn't care for Ciel or anyone for that matter. Maybe if Sebastian wouldn't care for this kid, you would. You wanted Ciel to be happy.

If Sebastian couldn't handle that, then you wouldn't handle Sebastian.

Notes:

A bit of a shorter, fluffier chapter. Just a lil something to help move the story along to the next best that I can. Obviously I'm not a professional writer lol.

Anywaaaays... did I mention that Ciel is my son? I'm adopting him. I love him dearly. (SPECIFICALLY O!Ciel, not R!Ciel. Also in case it wasn't obvious the Ciel in this fic is O!Ciel).

I've really wanted to give a bit more character to Ciel. He's got such an interesting character so I've been wanting to do him justice. I also really like writing cute scenes (';ω;`)
