The sun poured through your window, harshly waking you from your sleep as usual. You groaned and sat up, grimacing as Huxley clawed at your chest in protest. The cat let out a meow, looking up at you. You sighed, unable to stay mad at him for long.
"Sorry, bud, but I've gotta go to work. It's almost Christmas so we'll be kinda busy while people visit for the holidays." You explained, though you knew the animal didn't understand a word you said.
Huxley let out a huff and hopped off of your chest, stretched, and went over to his food bowl. You smiled warmly and slid out of bed, grabbing his bag of food.
"You better watch the attitude, Mister." You said as you poured him his food, "You're lucky you're cute."
Huxley chirped and began eating his food, his tail swishing behind him. You chuckled and pet him behind the ear. After making sure he was settled you began to get ready for work, getting dressed in your uniform after a quick shower and brushing your teeth. Finally you pet Huxley and headed out the door. It was strange to think that he was now months old and not the tiny kitten you had known. You smiled, remembering how grumpy he'd be when you locked him in the bathroom when you left for work.
After locking your apartment you headed down the stairs, the snow crunching beneath your feet as you stepped onto the sidewalk. You held your coat close, a layer of goosebumps covering your skin. You adjusted your gloves and began walking to work, your breath fogging in front of your face. As you passed by the Undertaker's funeral parlor you heard the familiar sound of giggles.
You immediately looked over, frowning when you noticed Undertaker peering out the door. You sighed and approached him, knowing something was up. The moment he saw you approaching his smile widened.
"My my, paying me a visit instead of headed to work, (Name)? How very irresponsible of you!" He chastised, though it was clear he was merely joking.
You raise a brow, "Why were you staring at me?" You asked, shoving your hands in your pockets, "It's creepy to stare at random people and giggle."
Undertaker waved a hand, "Oh, but you know me, so it makes it less creepy!" He leaned closer to you, "So, a little birdy told me you got yourself stabbed by the copycat Ripper."
You wanted to ask who had told him, but you already had a feeling it was a certain red reaper, so you didn't bother. "Yeah, he got me pretty good. I was in recovery for a good while."
"Such a shame, really. I hear he's been on quite the rampage lately."
You frowned at the mention of the Ripper's activities. His killings had become more frequent, which worried you immensely. Luckily for you, he was still only killing at night, and Sebastian had taken up the habit of walking you home.
You shrugged, rubbing your arm, "Well, Sebastian and I are still investigating, and I'm sure Sebastian will be able to catch him."
Undertaker nodded, leaning against the door, "Yes, he's quite efficient, isn't he?"
After a bit of admittedly awkward small talk you continued on your way to work, your eyes down on the ground. Your breath fogged in front of you and things turned oddly quiet. I finally looked up, glancing around. You furrowed your brows, you could've sworn there were a lot more people out.
Your shrugged it off, but still couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. You'd been feeling like this for a while now, but you figured it was just a side effect of being stabbed by a literal serial killer. You hugged yourself and walked a bit faster.
You assured yourself that you were just being paranoid...

You were on break, sat out in the yard with Pluto. You scratched him gently behind the ears, the silence comforting as a gentle snow fell around you. The crunch of footsteps against the icy blanket sounded behind you, making you turn. It was Sebastian, a mug of hot cocoa in hand.
