In all seriousness, I cannot thank everyone enough. When I started this fic I genuinely didn't think I'd even finish it. It was something my friend had jokingly recommended when I said I had writers block and had just canceled another fic. You can even see it on my announcement page where she says "I request Black Butler" lol.

But now here we are, it's all finished and I'm honestly satisfied with the turnout. A lot has happened since I started this fic. I began it shortly after my dad had passed, and now I've moved from my childhood home and will soon be living with my older sister and her family on our dream farm.

But aside from traumatic ass events (seriously who's oc am I, put me back in the sketchbook), I'm more than thankful for everyone who's shown support for this doofy little fic. You can tell I wasn't taking it too seriously at first, hell my first fic was a shrek x reader crackfic. But after posting the first few chapters people genuinely seemed interested in my writing, and I started to form an actual story for this AU.

Yep, you read that right. I had absolutely nothing planned. I literally just told myself "Eh, write a cafe AU and we'll figure the rest out later!"

I really just wanted to show my love for Black Butler and its characters. This was the first anime I ever watched and I've done so many rewatches I've basically got the first and second seasons memorized. And while there's weird stuff about it (Sebaciel shippers dni TwT), I have a genuine care for this artwork and its fandom. And it might be freaky next time, idk lol.

Okay, some facts about this story because I'm bored!

1. I considered putting in Alois and the Trancy servants buuut since this is based off the ending of season 2, and I already had somewhat of a storyline planned out, there wasn't really a way for me to fit them in. Maybe someday though, I love Alois he's literally my child.

2. I was very meticulous with keeping the reader insert completely ambiguous. I used everything I disliked about some x readers to do it too! It genuinely irks me whenever the reader insert is described in detail because that's not a reader insert, that's your oc. So in order to keep things as ambiguous as possible, I would pay extra attention when describing literally anything that'd include details. I felt a little bad because at one point I mentioned Sebastian "ruffling your hair". Not everybody has hair to ruffle, but I'm also overly critical of myself and I overthink a lot so I left it. I don't think people really care as much as I do, I just gots that autistic sense of justice and overthinking.

3. This idea was actually inspired by another fic! It was an Undertale Sans AU x reader (I can't remember the name uuuuugh. I didn't have an ao3 account at the time either so I couldn't save it properly) that involved Black Butler characters working at a cafe that the reader insert worked at! That idea really stuck with me and eventually became this fic! In that story the characters from BB didn't appear often, but the inspiration should still be acknowledged.

4. This fic very much taught me to actually plan my stories before I start writing and posting. Most of why I took so many breaks was because of the writer's block trying to figure out the next big plot point. That's totally my fault (⁠｡⁠ŏ⁠﹏⁠ŏ⁠)

5. I actually did have an actual idea for what the reader's cafe uniform looks like! I imagined a white button up long sleeved shirt with a small black bowtie, black dress pants, and black dress shoes. That's honestly just what I would prefer to wear, but I left it up to the reader to pick whatever they wanted! I think it's more fun to get to put in your own style. I also have a knack for describing outfits in detail and wanted to stray away from that for everyone's sake. It took everything in my power not to describe the suit during the garden party 🥹

6. I wrote a lot of this fic while watching RuPaul's Drag Race so if you notice some sass snuck in there, that's why. Also the jokes describing Sebastian in the very first chapter were by Stanzi Potenza. I don't really watch their content anymore but I think I only vaguely mentioned the fact in the author's note.
