It had been months since the accident. You were sat with Sebastian while he helped you stretch your legs to build muscle back. Each hand was wrapped carefully around your ankle, slowly helping you move them back and forth in a stepping motion. Of course, with Sebastian and the others around you'd been healing just fine. Ciel would hire private doctors to come check on things. Each time Sebastian seemed slightly annoyed, as if he wanted to do everything himself. You'd always have a hint of a smile at his obvious worry.
Sebastian smiled gently up at you as each leg bent. "You'll be walking again soon at this rate."
You chuckled, leaning back on your palms, "Knowing you you'll have me lifting weights to get me back on my feet faster."
The demon rolled his eyes as he stood, adjusting one of his gloves. "Oh please. I'm not that pushy." He placed a kiss on your forehead before holding out a hand to you. "How about we give it a try, hm?"
You tensed a bit. You'd managed to build some muscle back in your legs, sure, but you still hadn't been out of bed in so long. Hell, did you even know how to walk anymore? But eventually you sighed and placed your hand in his.
"If I fall it's on you."
"As if I'd let you fall."
You looked down at your feet, placing them flat on the ground. You gripped Sebastian's hand with all of your strength. With furrowed brows you shakily pulled yourself up. A soft grunt escaped your throat as you stumbled back up for the first time in forever. You felt like you were taking your first steps all over again. You glanced up at Sebastian wearily. He smiled down at you, placing a hand just below your healing burns. He leaned down to your ear.
"I'm right here, (Name). I'd never let you fall."
Your cheeks heated at his words, your heart fluttering. You swallowed and moved one foot forwards steadily. Then the other. You stumbled a few times, your nails digging into Sebastian's sleeves. But, like he promised, Sebastian never let you fall.
Eventually you'd made it all the way to the door. You grew more confident, looking up at Sebastian with the biggest smile you'd worn in months. Sebastian's gaze softened almost as much as the day you woke up. He reached out and opened the door, nodding his head towards the hallway.
"How about we surprise the others, hm?"
You chuckled, looking out at the hall. "Let's just hope I don't get tackled."
The two of you shared a laugh. Slowly you made your way out of the room together, Huxley padding alongside you. His green eyes were fixed on you, his tail held high. He'd occasionally rub against your ankle, giving you an extra bit of reassurance with each butt of his head.
The moment you made it to the end of the hallway you heard a gasp. Mei-rin and Finnian had been walking together, Bard having just exited the kitchen. They all stared at you for the longest time, Mei-rin dropping the broom she'd been holding. Then after while you were swept into a hug, all three of them managing to avoid your burns by wrapping their arms around both you and Sebastian. The butler let out a surprised grunt, his eyes widening slightly.
"I-I... We thought we'd 'ave to wait so long to see you walk again!" Mei-rin sobbed into your chest.
Finny pressed his face into your shoulder. "Look at you! We knew you'd be strong enough!"
"You're just a proper soldier, aren't you, (Name)?" Bard said, looking away to hide the obvious tears that pricked his eyes.
You swallowed back the lump in your throat, your own tears starting to well up. You leaned into the hug with a sigh. "You guys..." Sebastian cleared his throat, glancing between you all. You looked up at him and snorted, elbowing his stomach. "What? The big bad butler can't handle a hug?"
