According to Sebastian, your stab wound was probably going to take a few weeks to heal. So, unfortunately for you, you were stuck in bed. Luckily you had Huxley for company! Sebastian would come by to feed and clean Huxley's litter box while you rested, occasionally accompanied by Tanaka.
Today was no different. Huxley meowed loudly and batted at Sebastian's shin as he prepared his food. You couldn't help but chuckle at the sight.
"I think he's started to associate you with food, Sebastian." You said as you watch Huxley try to climb up Sebastian's leg.
Sebastian laughed and placed the bowl in front of the kitten, who immediately began chowing down while letting out tiny grumbles. The butler's eyes glimmered as he watched Huxley eat, petting the black cat behind the ears.
"Such a dear..." He murmured, his eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled brightly.
You smiled and raised a brow, "I'm starting to think you only come here for the kitten and not to help me recover."
Sebastian looked back at you, "Whatever do you mean?" He asked, but the grin on his face told you all you needed to know.
You rolled your eyes playfully and looked back at your computer, a small frown on your face. Sebastian gave you a look, which you noticed almost immediately.
"I'm not trying to find another job, Sebastian. I'm just reading something." You said, but you couldn't help but wonder... "Why are you so worried about me getting another job anyways?"
Sebastian looked back down at Huxley, "Oh, it's nothing." He said, obviously trying to act casual.
You couldn't help but smile, "Awe, I care about you too, Sebastian."
Sebastian smiled softly and walked next to your bed, patting your head, "You get some rest now. I'll be back tomorrow."
You chuckled and brushed his hand away, "Yeah, yeah."

T
he next morning the sunlight gave you a rude awakening, as it usually did, shining obnoxiously through your window and right into your eyes. You sat up as much as you could, whincing slightly at the pain that shot through your side. Huxley purred when he realized you were awake, happily nuzzling against your chin.
"Good morning to you too, Huxley..." You said in a rough voice, rubbing the sleep from your eyes.
It took about an hour for Sebastian to show up, so you passed the time on your laptop reading and scrolling on your phone. Today was different though, because when Sebastian arrived he was accompanied by Mei-rin, Bard, and Finny.
"(Name)!" Your other three coworkers exclaimed, rushing to your side.
"We was so worried, we was!" Mei-rin said, her hands folded in front of her.
"Is it true? Were you really stabbed by that Jack the Ripper copy?" Finny asked, leaning over your bed.
"Damn, you took quite the blow. Sebastian said you'd be bedridden for a while." Bard said, already lighting up a cigarette.
You laughed softly, holding your hands up, "Alright alright, calm down you three. I'm happy to see you too!"
Sebastian sighed, starting to fill up Huxley's bowl, "They insisted on coming this time. They wouldn't shut up about it."
You smiled warmly at his annoyed expression, watching as Huxley batted at his ankle. "It's fine, Sebastian. I'm glad they came."
Mei-rin reached into her purse, "Oh, we brought you a gift!" She said, smiling brightly, "We hope ya like it!" She held out a box of chocolates and a stuffed rabbit with a little bowtie.
"We all chipped in some money! It's from the young master's line of toys!" Finian said, his hands folded beneath his chin.
Your eyes lit up. The plushie was quite cute, and you'd never pass up the opportunity for free chocolate! "Awe, thank you guys!" You said as you took the gifts from them. "I'll pay you back, I promise."
Bard waved a hand dismissively, "Nah, don't bother. It's a gift."
You smiled warmly, happy to have coworkers like them. As chaotic as they were, you found that you genuinely cared for them. They were starting to feel like your own little family.
After hours of chatting about what had happened at the cafe while you were gone, how they'd been, and letting them play with Huxley, the three of them left you with Sebastian to head home. Now the tall man was playing with Huxley, a soft smile on his place as he wiggles the string toy.
"You get so annoyed with them." You said, watching the kitten bound around and snap at the toy, "You act like you dislike them."
Sebastian hummed in response, looking over at you, "They annoy me." He said simply, looking back down at the kitten, "But... I have to admit, they are efficient workers. They'd be gone if they weren't."
You chuckle, crossing your arms, "You can just admit it when you like someone, Sebastian. I know you're a big, scary demon, but you have feelings..." You furrow your brows, "Right?"
Sebastian laughed softly, lifting up Huxley, "Of course I have feelings, (Name)." He looked at you from the corner of his eyes. You weren't sure why, but the look he gave you caused your cheeks to flush.
You looked away, picking at a loose string on your blanket, "Right..." You said, trying to ignore the heat that prickled your cheeks.
Sebastian smiled warmly and playfully wiggled his fingers at Huxley, who batted at them. The kitten caught his hand and nibbled at Sebastian's gloved hand.
"You little devil..." Sebastian said, petting Huxley's belly with a warm smile.
You breathed a laugh as you watched him play, "It's so weird watching you play with a kitten. I don't think I'll ever get used to it."
Sebastian looked back at you and grinned, setting the kitten down, "As I said before, (Name)." He stood, setting Huxley on the bed. He leaned down towards your ear and murmured, "I have feelings..."
A shiver shot its way up your spine, your face flushing. Sebastian chuckled and patted your head, grabbing his coat and flicking off your lights save for your bedside lamp.
"Have a nice night, (Name). I'll see you tomorrow." He said, his eyes glinting in the dim light as he shut your apartment door and locked it for you.
You stared at the door for the longest time, reaching up to feel your cheek. "Shit..." Was all you could manage after getting over your initial shock.
