At first I was frozen, still wide eyed and in shock, but then my eyes slowly start to close. The feeling of his soft lips on mine gave me warmth and satisfaction in a way, the way my hands slid down his chest while his rested firmly on my hips.
The kiss was rough, not one you see in a romance movie or read in a romance novel. The way his lips moved with mine made my stomach churn and distracted me from everything else but him, it was like everything in my head was blurry and I had no time to process what the hell I was doing.
This is the same man who threatens me, treats me like shit, and kills people for a living, but he still managed to make even the most obvious things confusing.
Somehow my hands start fisting his shirt as I was pressed tighter against the wall. The feeling of his fingertips trailed behind my thighs and I gasped into his lips as he lifted my legs around his waist.
As much as I feared it, he eventually pulls away, leaving only our heavy breaths to be heard.
S: I'll never understand.
He breathed heavily on my lips as he spoke. My eyes searched his serious face, desperate to find an answer to what he was saying. The darkness of his eyes met my own, relaxing me a little.
I take a deep, thorough breath, stroking the skin of his neck with my fingers as I tried to find the right words to follow what had just happened.
I:...why did you kiss me?
I asked quietly, afraid of his answer. In response, Simon frowned as usual.
S: Because it felt like the right moment. Why it felt that way, I'm not sure.
I: You're very harsh, kissing me after I almost hit your head with one of my shoes seemed like the right moment?
S: I didn't know what else to do.I swallow my embarrassment as he leans back into my face, resting his forehead against mine.
S: You keep pushing me to my limits.
His tongue slid over his reddened lips, coating them with moisture. My silent response caused him to gently remove my legs from his waist and gently place me on the floor.
Simon's soft fingertips ran up and down my thigh as he stared deep into my eyes.
S: Don't throw shit at me again.
When I open my mouth to speak, his hand touches my chin.
S: Is that clear enough?
I: You deserve it.I tested gently, causing him to look at me for a few seconds.
S: ...I did.
Is all he said, to my surprise.
I: I'll never understand us.
S: I don't want to.He replied, locking his mouth with mine once more briefly.
S: I don't want to understand.
He muttered against my lips before pulling away again.
S: Maybe it's just better this way.
I suppose he was right. I have other things on my mind; other things in the way. Much more important things. It would be better if we didn't worry about it. Save those issues for later, because there have been enough already.
S: Come down with me and let's get this sorted, dollface.
I: So you want my help now?
S: Don't argue with me.He warned quietly.
I: Alright.
Then it was back to work, maybe pretending nothing happened, but we both knew something else was in the air.
S: Give me that file over there.
I grab the paper and hand it to him. Again, they were scattered everywhere and we sat next to each other and went through everything.
I sigh heavily and rub my eyes as he examines the piece of paper, looking down at the arm where his wound was. I got curious and lifted his sleeve slightly, gently running my thumb over the bandage.
I: Does it feel better at least?
S: I suppose so.
I: Are you sure?
S: Yes. Now-Something started ringing first, it stunned me so much I barely had the decency to even think about it. I stand with Simon and we immediately rummage around the room for the phone.
I look for the sound and find it under a card on Simon's desk.
I: Here.
He takes the phone from my hand, frowns as he answers, then puts it on speaker and I stay silent next to him, staring at the device.
?: Hello?
S: Johnny?
J: Simon, shit. Are you OK? I heard plans from the people who shot at you. They left because you took out at least seven of their men and they'll be there in a few hours, you need to get Isa out of the country immediately, Simon.Johnny spat, barely giving himself a chance to breathe.
J: What?!...we're fine, I just got shot in the arm, but I'm fine. Isa is unhurt.
Johnny breathes a sigh of relief.
J: Okay Simon, you need to get Isa out of Brazil immediately. You can't come back here, you need to find Ray in New York. He's the only guy I trust right now.
S: What do you mean he's the only one you trust?
J: Our men can't be trusted right now. Don't trust anyone but Ray, you can't go upstairs and you certainly can't reveal your location to anyone, so be aware of that and be careful. I hate to say this, but you're on your own. That is until me and Z find a way to help you guys. That's all I needed to know, I guess we're going to New York now. Simon hangs up and quickly crouches down, gathering all the papers and files.
S: What are you waiting for? Help me.
We pack up all the evidence and I give him a look of fear.
S: Listen to me, we're fine as long as you do what I say, now pack your things. I want to be out of this house in five minutes.
I nod quickly and rush upstairs to my room. I throw clothes into the suitcases without a care in the world while Simon waited for me at the door. I frantically close them and rush downstairs to Simon with his already packed suitcase.
S: Are you ready, dollface?
He asked as we settled into the car and threw our luggage in the back seat.
I: Ready like never before.
