S: A grenade.
I: WHAT?!

I screamed, my eyes couldn't get any wider than they already were.

I: I don't want to sound like a coward, but you're telling me there's a damn bomb on the car!

Simon, as usual, ignored every single word I screamed, he understood that I was most likely scared and inexperienced, luckily he has the experience. He knows what he's doing, so I told myself it would be best not to question it.

The car changed lanes and Simon changed gears pretty quickly. Immediately the car sped up, causing me to fall back against my seat and squeeze my eyes shut.

When I open my eyes again, I realize we were no longer on the road, but gently driving across the desert floor, the speed of the wheels blowing huge amounts of dust behind us as I stared in confusion at the dead tree in front of us.

I: Are you going to crash this car?
S: No. I'm going to make it look like we crashed. As soon as they get close to the grenade, which should be in about two minutes, it will explode.

I quickly understood his plan without questioning him or his theories. He starts slowing the car down and puts it in auto drive.

S: Okay, come over to my side and sit on my lap.

My mouth goes dry as I stare at him questioningly.

I: What?
S: We don't have time for this Isabell, no questions for me and sit on my lap.

I hesitantly climb to his side and wrap both of my legs around his waist.

I: What now?

He keeps one hand on the steering wheel and reaches for the door with the other. It was obvious now that he was going to jump. I'm no stranger to movies, even staring at Simon and his dark eyes, that sense of security he gave me isn't enough to stop the rapidity of my breath and torment my simulated mind.

S: Arms around my neck, hold me as tight as you can. Make sure your head is against my neck so you don't get critically injured if I end up falling on you.

I stare into his eyes and can't find the strength to respond verbally.

S: I gave you my word, you can trust me, I'm here to protect you, right?

I brace myself in position as I close my eyes and feel a warm draft of air hit us from the open car door.

A scream escapes my lips as we were in the air for a quarter of a second as Simon was underneath me and we hit the ground rolling down a hill. I feel small rocks and sharp weeds scratching and digging into my back.

The whole thing happened so fast, though Simon never failed to keep his arms around me the whole way down. I notice him using his feet to avoid putting too much weight on me when he was on top.

When we get to the bottom, I roll off top of him and gasp for air as I stand up. I felt dizzy, causing me to stumble a few times. Simon was still on the ground, groaning as he moved his shoulders.

I: HOLY SHIT! That was wonderful!!

I laughed in amazement, Simon opens his eyes and stares at me with a neutral expression.

S: Wonderful? Because you weren't the one who absorbed the impact.
I: I'll massage your back later.

I smiled and offered him my hand. He stared at it before reaching up to grab it and tugging. I was thrown across his body and squeaked as I landed on top of him.

Simon giggles quite seriously when he sees my hair covering my face.

S: Get off me.
I: You pulled me down!
S: You fell.
