I woke up to a click, a click that belonged to a gun. Followed by a slurp. Footsteps and a slight cough. My body straightened as I rubbed the exhaustion from my eyes. Immediately I notice Simom next to the dresser, lining up his guns as he also gets dressed, the way the muscles in his back and arms tense every now and then was mesmerizing.
I: Hello.
I croaked tiredly, catching his attention. He turns around just as he puts his gun in his back pocket. I then watch as he silently moves towards me and grabs my chin to make me look up at him.
S: I'm leaving, remember what I said, stay away from danger.
He warned sternly but quietly before leaning down to kiss my lips. The sudden affection was one I'm not complaining about, it brought butterflies to my stomach.
He pulls away before we get too carried away and I sigh and lay on my back as he leaves the room. I rub my eyes, still seeing the blurry layer of exhaustion through my vision.
To my surprise, then hearing my name, curious, I stand up and lean my ear to the door.
J: Are you kidding me? You slept in the same bed with her? Cuddling with our boss's daughter, what makes you soft?
Johnny spat.
S: I'll fucking shoot you and do this myself, Johnny. I work fine on my own.
J: That's clearly a lie since you didn't do anything. Probably because you've got the damn boss's daughter on your mind the whole time.He snapped bitterly, and surprisingly Simon hadn't made a sound. All I heard was a bang on the other side of the door, making me jump up and cover my mouth to keep from making any noise.
S: What the hell is your problem?
J: Nothing is my problem, except that you think I don't know what you're really up to. I'm not an idiot, are you fucking the boss's daughter, Simon?
S: No, I'm not. I'm trying to get this shit together so we can figure out what the real problem is here.Simon remarked, leaving Johnny silent for a brief moment.
J: I don't think you remember what happened to that new kid a few weeks ago because you were talking to Isa. Mr. Gates slit his throat.
Johnny hissed quietly. I furrow my eyebrows in disgust, shake my head and sigh heavily at my father's barbaric ways.
J: She's dangerous to love.
Simon started to laugh bitterly, quite loudly I might add.
S: The day I love someone is the day that will most likely never come. Get over it, Johnny.
J: Alright. Let's get down to business then. And with that, they left the building, securing the building to make sure it was nearly impossible to get in, as for me, I felt a rush of anger and great disappointment.
Unfortunately, his words left a harsh impression on my mind with the undeniable feeling of being upset, and why I was so upset, clearly reflecting how I've felt towards Simon for the past few weeks.
I sat on the wooden floor for what felt like an hour, but it was only six minutes, my fingertips sliding over the skin of my legs as I took deep breaths.
What does it take for him to realize that I care about him? Despite the various insults he's thrown at me, I'm in love with the man who would take a goddamn bullet for me.
I: Seriously, where was my brain?
Fuck, all those years my father spent raising me are meant to be put to good use, not brushed aside. No matter how awkward the situation is... or that my 'bodyguard' is an extremely insensitive but attractive asshole.
