Olivia's pov (November 9th, 2017)

I was sitting on my bed and drafting out some song lyrics in my notebook. I've written a couple songs and posted snippets on my Instagram but they never became anything. Even though I'm a cheerleader, I've always wanted to be a singer ever since I was little. I guess you could say cheer is just a side hobby.

I quickly looked up from my notebook, looking at my window when I heard music begin to play. I let out an annoyed groan before setting my notebook down and walking over to the window, pushing up the blinds.

I found out the other day that Madison's bedroom window was directly across from mine. Yipee.

I looked into Madisons window, seeing it open and inside she was unpacking some boxes with her brother, Liam, the music literally blasting. I opened up my window and placed my hands on the windowsill.

"Hey!" I shouted causing Madison to look at me. "Turn down the music! Or at least close your window!"

Madison walked over to the window, crossing her arms as she looked at me. "I'm sorry, what? I can't hear you!"

"I said-"

I cut myself off as she just turned the volume up more. I parted my lips in disbelief as I stared at her. She smirked at me and I just flipped her off before shutting the window and pulling down the blinds.

I went back over to my bed and sat back down, trying to tune out Madison's obnoxiously loud music. I picked my phone off of my nightstand as it started to ring, smiling when I saw Louis' contact.

A few hours later, I started to get the kitchen table ready for Madison to come over. I set my computer down on the table along with some markers and pencils.

Iris and Jenna were here also working on their project in the living room which was right next to the kitchen. I didn't want to be here by myself with Madson so I invited Jenna and Iris over.

I heard a knock on the front door and I went over to answer. I opened the door to reveal Madison with her school bag over her shoulders.

"Hi. Come on in." I said.

I can't believe I'm letting this girl into my house.

Madison walked into the house and I lead her into the kitchen. She set her bag down and sat at the kitchen table.

"Hey, Madison." Iris said as I sat down in the chair across from Madison.

Madison looked at them, doing a 'sup' movement with her head before she took out her laptop.

"Oh, shit." I cursed, causing Madison to look at me. "I forgot the posterboard upstairs. I'll be right back."

Madison's pov

I watched Olivia stand up from her seat and run upstairs. I took my phone out of my pocket, reading the messages that my brother was sending me.

"So, Madison." Jenna said causing me to look at her. "How are you liking California so far?"

I shrugged. "It's okay."

"You're from Boston, right?" Iris asked and I nodded. "You must be pretty smart with History considering everything that went down there."

"You'd think but not really." I chuckled. "I'm not that much of a school girl. If it were up to me I would drop out."

"Mood." Jenna said.

"But... I do miss Boston a lot." I said, looking down at the ground. "Everything was better when we lived there."

"How so?" Iris asked as her and Jenna came to sit at the table with me.

"Both my parents grew up and met in Boston so all of my family is there. When my dad told us that we had to move here for his job, my mom wasn't too happy. They argue a lot now and don't really pay a lot of attention to my brother and I." I explained, not even realizing I was saying it. "I'm sorry. I don't even know you guys that well and here I am trauma dumping." I chuckled.

"No, it's okay." Iris told me.

"Is that why you're so angry all the time?" Jenna asked.

"A- Angry? I'm not angry all the time." I furrowed my eyebrows.

"You're mean to almost everyone all the time. Liv told us about what you were like on the first day and the whole window incident earlier." Jenna told me.

I looked down at the table, playing with the strings on my sweatpants as tears started to form in my eyes. "Yeah, I guess that's why I'm angry all the time. The window incident, my parents were arguing again. I brought my brother into my room and we put on some music to try and drown out their fighting. I was angry on the first day of school because I just wanted to go back home so everything could go back to the way it was."

"Oh."

"Look, I don't mean to be so angry at Olivia and everyone." I looked at Iris and Jenna. "It's just kinda hard to be nice to people when your parents aren't even nice to each other, you know?"

"Yeah." Jenna softly said. "We're sorry you have to go through all that."

I shook my head. "It's okay. It's not your guys' fault."

"If you ever need someone to talk to or a place to stay when things get rough, you can call us any time." Iris told me.

"You guys are really nice." I said. "I'm sorry for being a dick."

"Its okay. Maybe you should apologize to someone else. You know, someone who's name starts with 'o' and ends with 'a' and has 'l-i-v-i' in the middle." Jenna hinted.

"I tried to apologize to her." I replied. "Then she told me she wanted nothing to do with me."

"Oh. Well, maybe just give her some time." Iris suggested with a small shrug.

"Maybe." I said.

"I'm back." Olivia announced as she walked back into the kitchen, setting the poster on the table and sitting back down in her chair. "Ready to start?"

I quickly wiped my tears away as I nodded, Iris and Jenna going back into the living room to do their project.
