Olivia's pov (April 1st, 2020)
I folded up a pair of Madi's sweatpants before placing it in her suitcase for LA. I zipped it up and then placed it back on the bed. I glanced back at the bed, spotting a black velvet ring box.
I widened my eyes before picking it up. I opened it up, catching a quick glance at a ring with a purple heart on it. I quickly closed up the box just as Madison's bedroom door opened.
She looked at me with a smile, her eyes quickly widening when she saw what was in my hand. She sprinted over to me and snatched the box out of my hand.
"Where did you find that?" She frantically asked.
"It... fell out of your sweatpants." I told Madison.
"Did- did you open it?" Madison asked.
"No." I lied.
She let out a small breath of relief causing me to slightly furrow my eyebrows. "Um... anyways. I gotta go." Madison grabbed her suitcase before kissing my cheek. "I'll see you tomorrow."
Madison quickly made her way out of her room and left me there all confused.
Who was that ring for and why was she trying to hide it from me? It has to be for me, right? It was purple and she knows how much I love purple. But then why wouldn't she just give it to me right then and there?
"She's proposing." I told Jenna, Iris, and Conan as we sat in my bedroom that night.
"Liv, she's not proposing." Iris said.
"How do you know?" I asked.
"Because you're both 17 years old." Iris replied. "And your dad told Madison she had to wait until you guys were 18."
"Well... maybe she was just buying it early." I said with a small shrug. "I mean, what else could the ring be for? My birthday and our anniversary already passed."
I looked at my friends and they all just gave me unsure looks. I let out a groan as I laid down on my bed.
Madison's pov (April 2nd, 2020)
I knocked on the door to Sabrina's apartment, her opening it after a few seconds. She invited me over to hang out with her and a few friends.
"Hey, Maddog." Sabrina greeted me with a smile as she let me inside.
"Hey." I replied.
"Come on. My friends are in the living room." She started leading me into her living room and I just followed her, seeing her friends sitting on the couch. "Guys, this is Madison. Madison, these are my friends, Joey, Paloma, and Whitney."
"Hey, guys." I waved shyly as I sat down on the couch.
"Wow, Sab, you were right. She is cute." Joey subtly whispered to Sabrina.
Sabrina let out a nervous chuckle before shushing her friend. "She's got a girlfriend."
"Oh."
"So, Madison, how'd you break your wrist?" Paloma asked me.
"Uh..." I glanced down at the cast on my wrist. "I was playing some football and had a rough tackle." I lied.
"Ouch." Whitney said as Sabrina just playfully rolled her eyes at me.
"Is Olivia gonna come over?" Sabrina asked me.
"She might. I told her you invited her but she might be a little busy so I don't know if she's gonna stop by." I answered, knowing how jealous Olivia usually gets.
"Oh, that's too bad." Sabrina replied.
"Yeah. Um, Sab, can I talk to you alone?" I asked her.
"Sure." She said, standing up and walking over to the kitchen with me following her. "So whats up?"
"You've been a real big help to me these past few months by making sure I'm not lonely and I just wanted to thank you." I reached into my front pocket and pulled out a black velvet ring box. "I, uh, got you a thank you present."
"Aw, Maddog. You didn't have to." Sabrina smiled at me.
"I wanted to." I shrugged.
I watched her open it, the ring with a purple heart on it now in full view for her. She let out a small gasp before looking at me.
"Mads, I can't take this." She told me.
"Please? You'll make me really sad if you give it back." I replied.
I noticed a small blush form on her cheeks as she took the ring out of the box and slid it on her pointer finger. "It's a beautiful ring. Thank you."
"Eh, it's no problem, really." I told her.
Olivia's pov
I hesitated a little bit before knocking on Sabrina's front door. I wasn't going to show up but I couldn't control my jealousy. Sabrina and Madison were starting to get extremely close.
Although I don't know why I was getting jealous. I knew I could trust Madison and from what I know Sabrina doesn't have an interest in going out with her. I think.
"Oh, hey, baby." Madison smiled as she opened up the apartment door. "I didn't think you were gonna show up."
I was gonna respond but stopped when I saw Sabrina appear behind Madison. She gave me a friendly smile. I glanced down at Sabrina's hand, spotting the ring on her finger. The same ring that I found in Madison's bedroom.
I felt my heart break just a little bit. I had a weird feeling in my stomach. And not the feeling of butterflies that I usually get around Madison. She gave Sabrina the ring? Why her?
"I... I just remembered I left my straightener plugged in at your house." I lied before starting to back away. "I gotta go."
"Oh. Okay." Madison said. "I'll be back home in an hour, okay?"
I quickly nodded before walking off. I can't believe this... I can't believe her. Maybe I'm overreacting a little bit.
